Something that hurts when you carry it but you can't bring yourself to remove it. That's the entire relationship in one metaphor. She wrote him a love letter when she was obsessed, when she was desperate, when she was the predator. He received it. He kept it. And every time he touches it, it reminds him of what she did—and what he might have wanted. The potted plant is another symbol that won't leave me alone. 'Qin Ya was the type who thrived on even the slightest bit of sunshine. She happily moved closer again.' She's the plant. She reaches for warmth. But who's holding the pot? Who's deciding where the sunlight falls? The plant imagery suggests something fragile, something that needs care but also something that can be moved, relocated, redirected at someone else's whim. And then there's the glass window from the memory sequence. 'She pressed him against the glass window, repeating her plea over and over.' Glass is such a perfect symbol for their relationship—transparent but impenetrable. She can see him. He can see her. But there's this barrier between them that neither can cross without breaking something. The glass represents the memory itself: she can see into the past but she can't touch it. He can see her present self but he can't reach the girl she used to be. The amnesia is the biggest symbol of all, obviously. But not in the obvious way. It's not just a plot device—it's a metaphor for how love works. We all forget parts of our relationships. We all reconstruct the past through the lens of who we are now. Qin Ya's amnesia just makes literal what happens to everyone: you can't trust your memories of love because the person remembering has changed. The girl who chased him is gone. The woman who's chasing him now is different. But he remembers both versions, and he's trying to reconcile them. The text says: 'Even this one falsehood could make him happy for ages.' Her lie about not liking Wan Li. Her lie about not remembering liking anyone else. He knows it's a lie but he chooses to believe it anyway. That's the theme, isn't it? Love isn't about truth. It's about what you're willing to believe.

Same author as Castle of Black Iron I believe. He's making the same mistakes yet again. Story barely began and already racism. Plus already started the filler crap. A whole chapter about a freakin bow and what its made out of, a weapon that's gonna become useless after 1 or 2 more cultivation breakthrus. Considering its the beginning of the novel, he's gonna breakthru quickly. Was a whole chapter really necessary for a bow that might be with us for maybe the first 100 chapters?Plus trying to make the MC smart when he's just kissing butt. A little butt kissing and everyone around him falling head over heels for him.Now he's gonna make a gun? Whats the explanation gonna be?
