Story is short. Suitable for reader who doesn't like long stories. However, the background is a bit loss. Only vague brief explanation. Futhermore the ending was too hasty...leaving many questions open.In overall, it is a nice to read story if one does not expect much.

A breath of fresh air when compared to the other sci-fi novels on this site. The pacing of this story is very welL done in my opinion, as it not only draws readers into the world, but it provides world development that does not seem too fast paced.

well the story had a nice beginning but then they added consequences to his ability and made him act like a pushover. i liked where he actually was going to train the monsters and not just rely on it but then he started going about how its dangerous and bla bla bla, you know the basic nerf stuff.
Low-mid tier novel at best. If you’re looking for a wimp mc who has no control of his own fate, only a pawn, an incompetent mc, with nothing special about him then this novel is perfect for you.

There are these small objects in the text that carry so much weight, and I keep coming back to them. The cloak first. It's just a piece of clothing—Jiang Yanchuan lent it to his sister when she was cold, and she washed it and dried it by the fireplace. To him, it's nothing. To her, it's the first tangible proof that someone in this manor cares about her. The fact that she nearly ruined her health over it speaks volumes about how starved she was for any kind of affection. Then there's the Gu Worm, which is honestly the darker symbol here. It's not just a plot device—it represents how the powerful manipulate the vulnerable. Concubine Zhou poisoned this girl, made her sick, made her gain weight, made her a laughingstock, all while maintaining her reputation as kind and virtuous. The Gu Worm is invisible, like the prejudice and cruelty that Jiang Chuji faced. No one could see it, but it was eating her from the inside. And the jade bracelet—another object that becomes a weapon. It's just jewelry, but in the wrong hands, in the wrong context, it can destroy a person's reputation and life. What really struck me though is the theme of visibility. Jiang Chuji spent ten years in a temple, invisible to her family. When she returns, she's still invisible—no one believes her, no one defends her, everyone assumes the worst. The entire story seems to be about her fighting to be seen as a real person, not just a convenient scapegoat. The Gu Worm dealer, Hu San, represents another kind of invisibility—the underground networks of power that operate in shadows while the noble families pretend everything is fine. I think this book is going to get really deep, and I'm here for it.
