Okay, let me get philosophical for a second because this text has SOME themes it's not even trying to hide. The medicinal soup is the central symbol here, and it's doing SO much work. On one level, it's literally poison — a tool of manipulation, a way to keep Xue Yao docile and Lu Dantao compliant. But on another level, it's also genuine care. Liu Jin's offer IS kind, even if it's calculated. Lu Dantao's gratitude IS real, even if misplaced. The soup is both weapon and comfort, and that duality is the whole story in a bowl. Then there's the greenhouse flower metaphor. Liu Jin explicitly calls Lu Dantao 'a flower that had bloomed in a greenhouse, cherished and pampered since childhood.' This isn't just an observation — it's a diagnosis. Her naivety isn't stupidity; it's the product of a specific kind of protection. She was kept safe, kept warm, kept from the world. And now she's in the wilderness, and the world is hungry. But here's what I think the author is really saying: that naivety isn't weakness. Lu Dantao's ability to trust, to feel genuine gratitude, to see kindness where there is some (however twisted) — that's not a flaw. It's what makes her dangerous to people like Pei Di and Liu Jin. They can manipulate her because she believes in goodness. But that belief is also her armor. She won't become cynical. She won't harden. In a story full of schemers and betrayers, she remains… soft. And maybe that's the most radical thing about her. Xue Yao, meanwhile, is the counter-symbol. He's already hardened. He's already decided the world is treacherous. His entire existence is built on suspicion and revenge. And yet — he's the one who's trapped. Lu Dantao is physically vulnerable but spiritually free. She can laugh, toast with soup, feel genuine joy. Xue Yao can see every trap but can't escape his own prison of bitterness. The recurring motif of eyes and vision ties this together. Liu Jin 'sizes up' Lu Dantao. Xue Yao 'narrowed his eyes' to a 'dangerous slit.' Lu Dantao has a 'gaze [that] was clear and innocent.' Everyone is watching, judging, calculating — except Lu Dantao, who sees what she wants to see. And maybe that's the point. The story isn't about who sees the most clearly. It's about who sees TRULY.

why does it have an abrupt ending
Story is good but if the FL becomes weak then there is no fun. I think FL should be close to a different person who loves her and let the ML suffer ( seeing her have sex with someone). He should know the pain too..
