So far, my thoughts on this novel are quite divided. On one hand, I'm captivated by the story. I've been reading it non-stop for the past week, even sneaking in chapters during work, as I just can't put it down. The prose is well-written and full of suspense, effortlessly keeping me engaged without overwhelming the plot. However, I do have reservations about the constant commentary from the live-streaming; I find it lazy writing, and I believe online commentators tend to be illogical, often resorting to trolling rather than thoughtful discussion.
Additionally, I'm puzzled by the world-building and the portrayal of the main character (ML). Initially, it's mentioned that there are around 10,000 trainees, and each episode sees a significant portion wiped out. The dynamics shift from every person for themselves to the emergence of various organizations, which feels inconsistent. Also, the inclusion of S-level contestants alongside newbies who struggle similarly doesn't make sense to me. The only apparent difference is that newcomers appear more fearful and less competent, whereas S-levels remain relatively calm.
A major issue I have is that I initially thought this was a romance novel, specifically a BL one. Yet, despite the clear identification of the ML, after 190 chapters out of 259, there's virtually no romantic development between the protagonists. While I don't expect them to be together, the lack of mutual attraction between them feels off. The ML is portrayed as a cold, psychopathic thrill-seeker, fixated on the MC purely out of lust, with no genuine connection or concern for others. In contrast, the MC is apathetic and seemingly asexual, with minimal emotional involvement in the story.
The novel attempts to equate the MC and ML, suggesting they share a similar mindset, but I don't see it that way. The stark differences in their personalities – one a calculating psychopath and the other emotionally detached – make it difficult for me to envision them as a compatible pair. Despite the MC's actions showing care for others in unique ways, he is not the same as the ML, who seeks to harm rather than love.
In summary, I'm at a point where I'm unsure if I'll continue due to these discrepancies. At 190 chapters in, I find it hard to picture a romantic relationship between the two characters, given their vastly different natures and the lack of chemistry.
If you like this novel at all read the authors other novels "Ending maker" is probably my favorite romance novel on this site and "Valhalla saga" isn't as good but still an enjoyable read, haven't read the dungeon one I'm going to start reading it next

She always like to compare herself to the Main characters. Like girl, what's there to compare? She always like to pick on the FL's. Like just do your mission, why have a cat fight with them?

LETS GO! Exciting - check, Reincarnation - check, Tragic backstory - check! Ren got me going cause I didn't expect a lot of the current twists and turns as the characters feel realistic and down to earth despite the fact it is placed in fantasy making me want to read more. (My favorite genre is fantasy) making it all the better for me! ^^
Something that isn't isekai, but still awesome in the prospects of having a story that is not scared to put their mc in scary situations hence why I am more than willing to give this a try!
