I'm not okay with how good the twin dynamic is in this chapter. Let me explain. Shen Xi and Shen Ci are both obsessed with winning Sang Ji's attention, but they approach it completely differently. Shen Xi is the tsundere older brother who pretends he doesn't care but secretly goes searching for his own prettier seashells because he refuses to accept the ugly one his brother gave him. That's such a specific, human detail. And Shen Ci? He just casually hands out shells like he's distributing participation trophies, picking the ugliest one for his brother with zero shame. The text says it all: "These, and these, are all for my sister. My brother? Oh, since he seemed to want one so badly, I'll give him one." PICKS THE UGLIEST ONE. This is comedy gold wrapped in sibling rivalry. But what's really fascinating is how Sang Ji navigates between them. She points at Shen Xi for the volleyball game with one finger and calls him "little rooster"—affectionate but dismissive. Then she immediately softens when she sees Shen Ci sitting alone, offering him watermelon juice like he's a child. Shen Xi notices this and is clearly unimpressed by the condescending tone. Meanwhile, Su Tang enters the dynamic and both twins immediately become suspicious of her. They think she's using her drawing skills to get close to Sang Ji, so they start drawing in the sand too. Two top-tier traffic stars, reducing themselves to a sand-drawing competition. The author is showing us that these characters' relationships are constantly shifting—alliances form, rivalries flare, and everyone is performing for Sang Ji's approval in their own way. Liang Shiyu watching from the sidelines, plotting her own conversation with Cheng Yuan, adds another layer. Nobody in this show is just hanging out. Everyone is calculating.
I keep going back to the scene where Lu Yuchuan catches her when she's running away from Grandma Wang. "Careful." Just two words, but the way the author writes it—his long arms reaching out, her breathless thank you, Sister Peng watching with sparkling eyes thinking they'd make a good-looking pair if not for the age gap—this is the author practically shoving us toward a romance subplot and I am NOT complaining. But here's the thing that's got me confused: Lu Yuchuan isn't just being nice. He's investigating her. The text makes it pretty clear that he's been watching her, that he thinks something might be off about her, and he deliberately chose this housing unit so he can keep her close. "With her under his nose, he refused to believe he wouldn't be able to uncover the truth." That's not the behavior of a guy who's just trying to help his comrade's niece. That's the behavior of someone who's suspicious AND drawn to her at the same time, and that contradiction is fascinating. Then there's the dinner scene. She cooks for him, he eats the whole bowl without saying much, and then immediately asks about the prisoner. The man who was starved and barely reacted to food suddenly finds his appetite awakened by her cooking, and the very next thing out of his mouth is an interrogation. It's like he can't separate his growing curiosity about her from his duty. And she has no idea any of this is happening—she just thinks he's a difficult boss to serve, which is honestly kind of adorable in a painful way. The Wang family dynamics are equally messed up. Old Mrs. Wang and Wang Fenglan exchanging looks and plotting together? That's not mother-daughter, that's co-conspirators. And Xu Zhiqiang coming back with good intentions but still reinforcing the same toxic expectations—"stop talking about divorce, it'll ruin your reputation"—shows that even the people who claim to care about her are part of the problem. Who is actually on her side in this story? Sister Peng, maybe. Lu Yuchuan, possibly but with strings attached. Everyone else seems to want her to either submit or disappear.
Instant add to my reading list! An assassin turned convenience store clerk but with a twist is freaking cool! I will update my review as soon as more chapters are released. Hopefully this doesn't disappoint.
i really like it even donated 4 power stone but dude you stoped updating
I haven't read a novel that has made me laugh this hard in a long time. not since I read Young Masters POV. honestly, peak comedy. my only complaint is that, though the writing quality is good, the story's structure is... how should I say this... somewhat feels incomplete. what do I mean? u might wonder. the first-person POV is not giving the story enough depth. the story focuses too much on the main character's POV, and in doing so, it makes other characters lack depth and makes the story bland. like now in his class, there are only 7 main students, and the more u read into the story, the more u will start to believe that there are only 7 students in his class. I mean, at a point during the survival camp arc, he completely forgot to add Garrick and Cassandra and added them to some chapter layer as if they were there from the start. and that's the main cast. moving to other characters unless he's talking to them or mentions them, we know next to nothing about their lives or what they are plotting. plus foreshadowing doesn't work well with first-person POV, that's why authors third person and other povs, to add more depth into their novel's world and give the readers something to look forward to. I hope the author will address this issue, and trust me, the novel will become one of my favourites. for now, though it's really funny, I won't call it a really good novel, Average at best, but has potential. it's still early for the author to fix this problem.
If you're here for lemons, you know you are at the right place. Author's pretty consistent with the updates too if the previous works are anything to go by.
Hello, Everyone! I am the author of The Unrivaled Holder: Rise of the Dragon Monarch. Serve this thread as a Q&A portion. If you are planning on reading this, you might experience info dump between chapter 1-11, because I wrote this one way back 2022 and that time, I felt like it was necessary. Lmao. But do not worry tho, because it changes when chapter 12 started. It is kinda fast paced as well. If you are not fan of fast paced book, this book ain’t for you. Lastly. if you find this book good, or just decent, please vote for it! I promise you that you will experience fresh plots especially on the later chaps. Thanks a bunch and stay hydrated!
I hope that this novel grows big one day.Wish you all the luck
Loved the new chapter's, the summary and to do list finally getting a bit different, do you actually have exams tmr which is why you left that in?? Yeah still enjoying the story, the 4th one kinda even got my heart racing. But i wonder is mira and the other one(sorry im bad at remembering names) the only ones alive? Or they are the only ones showing it? with what ch-5 told us it seems all of them are alive... But trying there best to act... Or maybe they are not free yet, from the code maybe? Maybe im just looking too deep into it...Anyways good work ch-5 felt a bit rushed but still added alot, like more characters might be alive, was the rush cuz of you exams?Well anyways thanks for such great content really appriciate it.
I really liked it, you are a genius writer. It is not just a horror story, but a novel that combines romance, tragedy, horror, action and fantasy. It is a unique mixture that I rarely see anything like it. Well done, little boy.
So yeah. Pretty bad review. First point is, although the "child nanny become the wife and mother" is common, the idea on an imperial nanny is good. So at first I was quite happy. An ancient China where there could be an imperial nanny ? Sounds interesting. But it is a modern world with an imperial family ? Wtf.Now an enthusiastic FL that want to take care of children, good, uncommon. Talented as a detective, well every FL need a cheat, so it's OK. But damn her personality is horrible. She meet the first 'enemy', and insult her and slap her directly. She is barely better than a low class bitchy villainess. I mean, respect to a stranger, even if they are rude, is basic etiquette and courtesy !Now, ML is a jerk. He never met his son, for 5 years ! Because the boy remind him of the mother ! He is basically saying : "booohooohoooo, the love of my life is dead, I don't want to be reminder if heeerr". If I could, I would slap him and yell at him to get himself together. He is an *****, an emperor, and a father. He has no excuse to say in the past. He has responsabilités and should uphold them. Also, he is a pathetic mess of misery and self pity. I know, novel world, à placé where life shattering live exist, but smh, one of the most important human, abilities is to forget. And lastly, this world. OK, à royal family still in power is a modern world, can pass, good enough. But a harem? Seriously? In which non Islamic country is a harem even socially acceptible? Which lead us to another problem. There is basically no social structure. I tried, but can't see one.Oh, and lastly, it isn't that well written. Author has been lazy by directly writing the name of the speaker, and the place the action take place. Most of the writings are dialogues. It look like a manga script. If you read this, author, those infos (speaker name, character background and else) should be either integrated in the text like : "okay
Absolutely cinema , although there's room for development, everyone does it's overall not a waste of time.
