To outsiders, even a small amount would be a treasured heirloom, but for people like them, it was nothing more than mouthwash.' This is how the author builds the world without exposition dumps. We learn what wealth means in this universe through the casual way characters treat something most people would consider priceless. The banquet itself is another masterpiece of worldbuilding—Earl William's French, the Chinese elite discussing acquisitions, the celebrities performing on stage below while the real negotiations happen above. Every layer of this world has its own rules, its own language, its own access codes. And Shen Shuli is suddenly navigating all of them while Fu Yanci is watching her from across the room like she's a piece on a board he's still trying to solve.
Okay so the contrast between these two scenes is just chef's kiss. On one hand you've got Shouguo Gongfu all glittering with big shots showing up uninvited, gifts flying everywhere, the Grand Tutor and Prime Minister all cooing over Gu Ruanci like she's some kind of celestial being. And on the other hand, Jing'an Houfu is absolute chaos—Laofuren dying, the imperial physician shaking his head, the three brothers running around like headless chickens. The author really loves setting up these parallel scenes, doesn't she? One place is all silk and incense, the other is tears and desperation. I love how the Shouguo Gongfu party feels almost cinematic—guests arriving unannounced, Duan Wangfu sending gifts out of nowhere, Qingtuan Daozhang sitting there like a calm storm in the middle of it all. And then the scene at Xuandi Guan where the Zhou brothers are waiting in the guest hall while servants gossip about them outside? That's pure atmosphere. You can practically hear the whispers and feel the humiliation. The author doesn't even need to describe it explicitly—just the fact that 'these discussions nearly drove the three Zhou brothers to rush out and confront the speakers' tells you everything about the social pressure building. It's like watching a slow-motion car crash in reverse. The world feels incredibly lived-in too. Dizhou has this whole social ecosystem—gift lists, pawnshop tokens, temple hierarchies, noble titles all interlocking. Every location has its own texture.
For the moment it's okay, the MC is still Chad, the story is a classic of revenge and all the tralala, but I am curious to know how it will take place
So far, this novel has a wide use of vocabulary, which makes for engaging reading. The writing itself is enjoyable, with well-crafted sentences that showcase the author’s skill. However, by Chapter 8, the story feels rushed. Events move quickly without much time for buildup, making it hard to fully connect with the world or characters.Speaking of the world, there isn’t much in the way of world-building. The setting feels vague, with little detail to anchor the reader in a specific time or place. This makes it difficult to become fully immersed. Additionally, the plot lacks a clear sense of direction. While some novels take time to unfold, this one doesn’t seem to be building toward anything specific—at least not yet.Overall, while the writing itself is strong, the pacing and lack of depth in both world-building and plot progression make it difficult to fully engage with the story. I’ll see if things improve later on, but so far, it feels somewhat underdeveloped.Another big issue I have is the lack one quotation marks. There is no use of them at all which can make it annoying to understand who is talking, for example “ ” - for when a character is talking out loud ‘ ‘ - for when mc is reading someone’s thoughts But anyway good effort from the author, can tell they care about writing.

I really like this story, it reminds me of Ant bully (pixar movie). Yes I know the MC wasn't bullying the beez, but the concept is in that vein. What got me hooked was the concept of passive upgrades to his offspring, and to the queen. That is a very unique concept that I had not seen in any WN book before. This is a great start, and I really hope the author continues to expand this story. I enjoyed reading the first 7 chapters. Gotta say, "Chef's Kiss" !
Ok so I'm writing a review about my novel to say a few things.This is a story about Rhett, who, living in an earth teeming with monsters and rare creatures due to some portals slays an ice dragon out of self defense and is made king of the dragon slayers by the dragon slayers. So he slays dragons and levels up his system like ability. So this novel of mine is quite unique, although it follows most of the troupes, I wrote something I think is quite a masterpiece.The MC is certainly not overpowered so don't worry, I gotcha. He will be powerful but not like a demigod. Also, he won't be a suffering type, he might suffer but I won't craft them into long hefty arcs and make you bored.The first chapters might be a little too rushed and jumpy but go through, I made them so for a purpose and you'll thank me later in the novel.The MC’s system appears simple and not too interesting at first but trust me, it will be in the later chapters after he attains a rank.No harem, there will be romance but I won't focus too much on it. Also, this is a plot twisting novel so be expecting some plot twists and mysteries.And before you drop the novel or give it a bad review, I'll plead you read all the free chapters first.This is my first novel, so don't expect it to be perfect. I can assure you it's good but not perfect.The story also has quite a world building which will impress you(I hope). Overall, this is a unique story with intricate characters and a sort of pragmatic approach to events.Also, treat this as a QA and I'll do my best to answer all the questions asked.Happy reading!.
