I know this isn't supposed to be the emotional core of the book but CAN WE TALK ABOUT YAN ZHI FOR A SECOND?? Cao Lingyun's maid who tried to sneak out to see her after the impoverishment, got beaten half to death by Aunt Peng... and when Cao Lingyun calls for her in this new timeline, the girl runs in all worried and sweet, and Cao Lingyun just LEANS on her shoulder and hides her tears. That moment hit me like a truck. Three years of suffering and the first person she wants to be close to is the one person who tried to stay loyal. And then there's the whole thing with her mother, Liu Ruoyan. In the past life, this loving woman was probably complicit in some way or just powerless to stop the tragedy. Now Cao Lingyun is walking through the mansion pretending everything is fine while internally screaming. The emotional labor of maintaining that facade while executing a revenge plot must be exhausting. The most heartbreaking part? When Zhou Hongbo hugs her and she's physically reacting to memories of a life that hasn't happened yet in this timeline. She's grieving someone who's still alive. She's carrying trauma from events that her current self hasn't experienced. That disconnection between her internal world and external reality — it's genuinely painful to read about. And yet, she finds moments of genuine warmth. The dried persimmon scene. The way she smiles at her parents after taking down her half-sister. She's learning to live again, even if she's doing it with one foot in the past.
Okay, let me just say — the Cold Chain Park sequence is one of the best-plotted stretches in this entire novel. The setup is deceptively simple: go find supplies, right? But the author layers so much tension on top of it. First, you've got the eerie emptiness around those three warehouses. No zombies anywhere. That alone should set off alarm bells, and the text makes sure we feel it — Wang Peng literally calls it out: "There is only one possibility in this scenario: there is something inside the warehouse that even other zombies are afraid of." Chills. Actual chills. Then Su Jin does this brilliant move — she grabs a headless zombie and hurls it into the open space as a test. I love that she's tactical, not reckless. And the reveal of the Devour-type anomaly is *chef's kiss*. The vine swallowing the zombie in one gulp, vanishing — that's cinematic as hell. But the real plot twist? Chao Xun doesn't run. She contracts it. Like, bro, you just learned anomalies can't be killed and your immediate reaction is "I want that as a pet"? The audacity. And it works. The contract scene is perfectly paced — Qilin runs in first as a kind of probe, the vine manifests, Chao Xun moves before anyone can react, seals are woven, and boom — Qing Teng is hers. The supply collection at the end is the perfect payoff. Seven tons of meat, Qing Teng devours it all into a separate clean space (no zombie-corpse-meat contamination, thank god), and the team is left absolutely stunned. The plot here does everything right: setup, tension, escalation, climax, resolution. No filler. Every beat earns its place.

Im writing this at chapter 20, so far Adam is a very complex character. The story has escalated into something BIG. Also a lot of different types of action scenes make it very exciting. and I have to say the three other Gods are a happy addition, Hikari is the best so far.
Dark lord is a beast but... I like child more, its getting good but I have heard something about it from another source that he is gonna be invincible soon in a place.. Waiting for that arc
