I have to say the pacing in these chapters is absolutely masterful. The author doesn't rush anything. We go from a casual dinner — grilling fish, bantering about part-time jobs — to this deeply intimate tribal ceremony, to the elevator moment, to the next morning with him bringing breakfast and learning to tie her hair. Each scene naturally flows into the next, and the romantic tension builds incrementally rather than hitting you all at once. The foot-wiping scene is a great example — it starts almost comedic with all the other couples reacting, then becomes genuinely tender when he says 'Or I can carry you back. You choose.' That's when you know he's serious. Then the hair dye ceremony escalates everything. And the chapter ends on that perfect note with him asking 'if I do a good job, will there be a reward?' and her deflecting with jokes about cars and apartments. The author knows exactly when to push forward and when to let a moment breathe. No dragged-out scenes, no rushed transitions. I stayed up way too late reading this batch and that's on the author.
I am so in love with this series. I can wait for the next book. this author has the ability to pull you into the live of her characters so effortlessly. All her book are a must read. I am impassionatly waiting for your next book. if I could give her 10 stars I would.
It would be awesome to have a sequel showing Katherine's happily ever after, since Max got his.
