The pacing in these chapters is absolutely ruthless and I respect it so much. Chapter 7 starts with what feels almost like a domestic comedy—Xiao Fu Shi socializing, winning over the other wives with her painting talent, even getting kind treatment at a banquet. She's seated in the 'lowest position' but everyone is nice to her. Some make sarcastic remarks out of jealousy, but she ignores them and earns MORE goodwill. This is the calm before the storm, and the author knows it. They let us breathe, let us enjoy Xiao Fu Shi's rise, let us think maybe things are actually going well for once. Then Chapter 8 hits like a truck. Liu Shuzhao dies. Xiao Fu Shi is pregnant. The joy and sorrow are literally in the chapter title: 'A Joy and a Sorrow.' The structure is almost cruel in its efficiency—we spend pages on Xiushui Shaozis and sweet moments between husband and wife, and then Yu Ping stumbles in crying 'Master, it's terrible… our eldest son, he…' The scene transitions are also worth noting. We go from Concubine Su eating candied fruit (which is almost melted, a nice symbolic detail—her own favor is melting away) to Fu Shi sitting alone by the window at night, deep in thought. Then to the commotion outside, then to the main hall where Fu Shi is 'clinging to Liu Shuzhao's body, refusing to let go.' The camera moves from the intimate to the chaotic in seconds. And that cliffhanger ending—Xiao Fu Shi signals to Dan Qing with her eyes as she enters the main hall. What is she signaling? What's her plan? The author leaves us hanging and I am NOT okay with this.
I need to talk about this one moment. Just one. Father Shen leaves after telling Mingtang he'll always stand behind her, and the text says: 'The warm breeze did nothing to lift his spirits. Stepping over the threshold, he rubbed his face hard and did not look back. His figure shrank into the distance, looking strangely lonely and worn.' And then Mingtang whispers: 'Forgive me, Father.' That's it. That's the whole emotional payload. No melodrama, no tears, just a daughter who knows she's lying to the man who would move heaven and earth for her. He thinks she's just keeping a cat for company. She's actually planning to build an empire. And he's out there rubbing his face because he can't provide enough for his sons' education, and she's sitting there with a magical library and a cat named Little Mi and she can't tell him because he'd worry himself sick. The father-daughter bond in this book is so understated it almost hurts. He catches her making up stories to cheer up her mother and instead of being mad, he's worried she's been lying about him all along. That's a man who's so insecure about being loved that he can't even process his daughter's joke. And she protects him from his own temper every single time. She pours his tea, changes the subject, plays the obedient daughter—but the moment he leaves, she's already plotting her next move. The cat Little Mi isn't just a pet, is she? She's the first thing Mingtang chose for herself. Something to keep, something to protect, something that hisses at his father. I think that's the most honest relationship in the whole scene.
Dean. Just Dean. Oh. My. God. The way he was introduced in this chapter 4 was pure perfection. From the moment he casually helped Ada enter the club to his quiet, observant nature, I knew he was going to be a force to be reckoned with. His perspective added a whole new level of intrigue—seeing Ada through his eyes, feeling his controlled yet simmering rage, and realizing that he was more dangerous than anyone else in that club. The moment he saw Ada being attacked, I literally cheered when he stood up and stormed out of his private booth. This chapter was thrilling, and I am OBSESSED with Dean already.

I would prefer you to continue writing with Sci-fi stories because it's much better than your previous story.
This is a really amazing novel, combo of insane technology and magic. It's a personal fav for me but I think you'll love it too. I highly recommend it for anyone who digs fantasy and mecha/space type sci-fi, check it out, you won't regret it.

Kaito's stupidity and bad luck are actually so relatable, just like mine, I can say that too. On the other hand, although Misaki's tsundere attitude seems cliché, it is ignored because it helps with the comedy. Overall fast paced and well explained in simple language. Very quality work and a solid pen.
