The story is truly enchanting and imaginative tale that captivated me from the very first page. The author masterfully blends elements of mythology, fantasy, and folklore into a world teeming with life and mystery. The setting, particularly the depiction of Kunlun Mountain, feels rich and vibrant, full of strange yet endearing creatures with unique personalities and purposes.
One of the most delightful aspects of the book is the way it introduces a variety of mythical beings – from the foxes carrying white banners to the snake-tailed maiden commanding swarms of serpents. Each character, whether human or monster, feels alive with distinct traits that make them memorable and engaging. The protagonist’s journey through this magical realm, encountering these mystical beings, is filled with moments of suspense, wonder, and even humor.
The pacing is smooth, balancing tension and lighthearted moments perfectly, especially when our unlikely heroes find themselves in bizarre and often surreal situations. The foreign characters, who bring an outsider’s perspective to the mythical world, add a layer of intrigue and realism as they navigate a world they do not fully understand.
Imma have a long post and just tell how this is different from the others.
Let me start off with the quick transmigration genre as a whole; all of them has systems (points, rewards, shop, stats, etc.), good-looking exceptional targets, a smart lead, missions, MC in original world is abused or overpowered, and obviously, different plots each world. Here’s the thing, it’s really hard to justify the word DIFFERENT because this exist in a genre where the premises are practically the same and you have to play with the rules of the genre just like how you can’t have one love interest then call it a one-of-a-kind-harem. Well technically speaking, each book is indeed different to any other books one way or another. Here’s the review (finally): in all of those premises I’ve mentioned, the author really tried to make it different than all the other QT novels, and trust me, I don’t feel any deja vu (the “I think I’ve read this somewhere before”) while reading this.
1. First, the system. You know how systems usually have 30% screen time? In here it’s about 5-10% on average. System does not just spoil FL with EVERY SINGLE detail. Most MCs usually use the PLOT as their cheat but since the system prevented our own FL, she gets to make her own coincidences.
2. No (or almost none) plot armor. There are no easy successes. No overnight magical victories. The FL fails and even she herself experience heartbreaks. She schemes, yes, but does not always succeed and takes time to execute; and those targets (so far) are all logical thinkers and don’t just randomly fall for her or mindlessly pursue her in the name of love losing their character in the process.
3. The FL’s emotions are very realistic and relatable. Most transmigrators usually are heartless and cold, and have very high IQ where they see the world just objectively. Our FL here is not that kind of person [maybe yet]. She’s guarded yet still vulnerable. She feels really human to me (Am I making sense?) and she’s just the right amount of intelligence and maturity where she still has space to grow and learn. JUST GREAT CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!
4. Lastly, I have implied this throughout my comment: I think although this is a QT novel, the transmigration vibe is not really strong. Which I believe is a good thing. The FL is truly living her life there like a resident and treats people as REAL CONSCIOUS PEOPLE, unlike most QT where the other characters are, well, characters in a story with predetermined sets of actions.
**. There ought to be similar stories out there but our author here is truly one of a kind. Her writing is on point and the characters are just sooo alive.
When is the release of the sequel?
The book was good. Enjoyed reading it. But ending could have been better. Its very rushed. It would be nice if it had 2 or 3 chapters giving a little more depth into who is the last son of Mrs. Cooper and how did Mark, Claudia and Chris's father feel. Did they repent their actions etc.
Story line ok but muddled up in some places and characters disappear.
Funny, enjoyable & romantic
