I need to talk about this scene between Fu Lingxi and Xuduo because it's genuinely one of the most heartwarming moments in the entire novel. Here's a woman who was just rescued from drowning, recovering from a fever, and already she's feeding her servant White Jade Cake and letting her gossip like they're best friends. The power dynamic is there—Xuduo calls herself 'your servant' constantly—but the warmth between them is real. Fu Lingxi flicks her forehead playfully, calls her a 'little lucky sparrow,' and when Xuduo is sad about Nanny Wu's death, Fu Lingxi comforts her with genuine kindness: "such an end can be considered the cycle of Karma." What strikes me most is how Fu Lingxi sees herself in Xuduo. The text literally says she felt Xuduo was "somewhat like her gluttonous assistant from her previous life" and that their shared love of snacks gave her a sense of closeness. This is a transmigrator who has been through hell and found someone to share small, simple joys with. And Xuduo's devotion—"We won't be traitors!"—feels earned, not forced. It's not blind loyalty; it's reciprocal care. I love that the author didn't make this a cold, calculating relationship. Fu Lingxi is smart and strategic, yes, but she's also genuinely good to the people around her.
Let me just sit with the sheer stakes of this world for a moment. We're talking about an era where rock sugar is so precious that using it for jam is considered 'pure extravagance.' Where people barely have enough to eat. Where a hen's eggs are saved to sell for cash rather than eaten. Where the Lin Yufen family across the way would 'throw herself on the ground screaming and rolling around' if they knew about the sugar waste. Gu Yueqian is navigating all of this while pregnant, with a taciturn husband who works himself to exhaustion, a traumatized child, and an original novel's heroine who is actively hostile toward her. The stakes aren't just 'will she survive'—they're 'will her family survive, and on what terms?' The jam-selling plan is huge because it's not just about money. It's about legitimacy. By going through official channels and sharing profits with the production team, she's embedding her family into the community's economic structure. If she fails, she's just another urban transplant struggling to survive. If she succeeds, she has leverage, connections, and a reason for people to protect her. And Wen Yan? She's the wildcard. In the original plot, Gu Yueqian was supposed to be the villainous wife who abandons her family. But now that she's actually competent and kind and building something real, the entire moral framework of the story is upside down. The conflict isn't just external anymore—it's narrative itself fighting back.
I love fantasy setting, and was hooked the just after reading the synopsis writing for novel. Our lead Princess Caroline is fiery yet frail. I like her a lot. There's so much innocence it's very refreshing to read. And definitely going to read it further. WELL DONE, AUTHOR! Please keep writing...

A wonderful, beautiful, enjoyable and well-written novel that combines horror, suspense, action, drama and philosophy, as if it were Game of Thrones, but with a horror twist. I liked it very much. I hope to see it as a digital book soon.

I like the worldbuilding and the story is nice. Keep it up! There are a few grammatical errors so I suggest using some grammar corrector, and don't put a space before the period. But overall, this is a good read.
