This novel is truly delightful; it doesn't drag on excessively like many others, and it avoids the torturous pace of slowburn stories. I believe it's a title that I could revisit and still find pleasure in, even in the future.

And the story just becomes bad. I just dropped because chinese authors (modt at least) f*ck up the romance, resort to make it a brainless harem...

The jealousy subplot involving a rising star or a family sacrificing their own to protect her from consequences might have been more believable, but this storyline is just too absurd.
The female lead (FL) is unconvincing, lacking authenticity as a war veteran. She relies on superficial qualities like appearance rather than substance, showing a lack of understanding of military protocol and dismissing important details. Her immediate alignment with the male lead (ML), whose reasoning is objectively inferior despite his nepotistic background, is distasteful. Despite her hard work for her position, she inexplicably views them as equals, which defies logic.
FL's character lacks caution, strategic thinking, and planning. Her abilities, such as magically guessing dice rolls and acquiring combat skills instantly, feel forced and unrealistic. On the other hand, the ML is portrayed as an icy, one-dimensional character, typical of many clichéd tropes, offering no unique traits.
In summary, the story relies heavily on contrived plot devices to overcome challenges, and the FL fails to convincingly portray a genuine general with real battlefield experience.

This story provided a refreshing change from those where everything is easily forgiven for the sake of "love." I would highly recommend it to fans of intense revenge plots and gripping murder mysteries.

He seems to be aware of the MC's plans, hinted at through the robin analogy and the "illness" clue, even assisting in the execution. In the end, it appears that they do eventually come together, though it's not without some suspense. The husband meets his demise, the former lover suffers psychological trauma, the MC exacts their revenge, and there's a happy ending for our protagonist - plus, a loyal dog named Ji Qu by their side.
