I like the story
Okay I need to talk about the New Year scene. The one where Ding Li runs into Xiao Wenjing on Qiyuan Peak and he's leaning against the railing, slightly drunk, and just... exists in his own little world of unrequited pining. I read that part like three times because it was so quietly devastating. He asks 'You?' like he can't quite place her, and she's over there internally screaming because this is the guy who in the original story tortures her to death, but right now he's just... a sad boy with a moon behind him. And then he chuckles and she literally thinks 'if he were with her for winter, could she sleep in the middle' because apparently even transmigration doesn't shield you from second male lead energy. But the real gut punch? He eats the snacks Chu Zilan sent. 'Transforming sorrow into appetite.' I am not okay. This man has been carrying this entire unrequited love storyline alone for THREE YEARS and nobody even checks on him except this random cannon fodder he's supposed to torment. And Ding Li, of all people, ends up giving him relationship advice. 'If you truly like someone, you should go after them.' She's the victim-to-be giving the future victim advice. The universe has some jokes. The whole Chu Zilan / Xiao Wenjing / Lu Qianchuan triangle is just... quietly rotting in the background while Ding Li is over here trying not to get murdered. It's giving 'everyone is suffering but in different flavors' and I'm here for it.
