I keep thinking about that one line from Su Guoqiang: 'Don't go overboard, like repeating the same section over and over because you think one part isn't perfect.' It's casual, almost offhand, but it's the single most important warning in the entire story. Because Su Sanxian IS that person. We saw it—standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, practicing the same technique dozens of times. She's meticulous to a fault, and that's both her greatest strength and her biggest vulnerability. The competition stakes are real but they're not the only stakes here. The real tension is internal: what happens when someone who already pushes themselves to the edge meets a situation where pushing harder is the only option? And Lin Shen knows this. That's why he says 'I'll keep an eye on her' with such earnestness. He's not just being sweet—he's genuinely worried. The family dinner scenes are almost deceptive in their warmth. Everything feels so cozy and perfect that it makes you nervous. Because you know tension is coming. The semi-finals are on Sunday. The kids are excited. Sanxian is preparing. And somewhere beneath all this domestic sweetness, there's the question: can she handle the pressure without losing herself? The author is building this slow-burn anxiety by contrasting the warmth of home with the looming competition. Every laugh, every full belly, every blanket being shared in the car—it's all precious, and that's what makes the stakes feel so high. We're not just worried about whether she'll win. We're worried about what winning or losing will cost her. And honestly? That's so much more interesting than a simple competition arc.
Can we talk about how distinct everyone sounds in this chapter? Because I genuinely think the dialogue is one of the strongest elements here. Qiao Shuang's voice is instantly recognizable — even in crisis, she's trying to protect people and make light of things. 'Ajiao, I'm fine, don't cry' while literally bleeding out? That's such a specific kind of mother energy. And then there's the system, which has this completely different register. It's clinical, almost robotic: '[No, trust me.]' and '[The Qi family.]' — these bracketed responses create this weird but effective contrast against all the emotional human drama happening around it. Song Yuejiao's internal voice is another layer entirely. She's constantly talking to herself, to the system, to the attackers. 'Damn it! I'll beat you little bastards to a pulp!' — this is a girl who is terrified but refusing to stay still, and the dialogue captures that perfectly. The confrontation with Li Jinzhi and Lin Miyu is also worth highlighting because it shows how Song Yuejiao's voice has changed. She doesn't even engage with them anymore. 'I don't have time to argue with you right now' — she just walks away. That's character growth written through dialogue, not narration. And Qiao Yu's guilt-ridden speech, kneeling and saying 'I can't face my aunt again' — his dialogue is all halting, self-blaming, which makes his voice feel authentic to someone who genuinely believes he failed. The author never lets any character sound the same, and that's no small feat.

I think it’s a tradition now for authors to give their own novels a 5-star review. After all, if they don’t appreciate their work, who will? A masterpiece deserves recognition...even if it’s from the author! ?
Excellent writing! The novel is very thrilling, the world building is amazing. Highly recommended!
