I give this a 5 star because this novel is truly written magnificently. The plotline is beautiful and the characters are very unique. However, I do want to point out that there are issues with the grammar. But regardless, I still think that this is worth 5 stars despite the mistakes.
Great book with a lot of potential. Please read the first volume before making conclusions as that helps build the overall plot. After that the football part starts and it started as you expected the mc is playing pro football for the first time and he makes mistake learns and keeps getting better I hope the author keeps writing the Novel since I already had a football novel ghost on me which didn't fit well. Great work
MORE!!! It's my first time hearing the word prepper. Good to know that the MC is an AR-15 guy not an AK47 guy. The SCAR 17 is the best one but the AR is good too.
There's no spoiler here.First, i've read the raw and kept up with the newest chapter in China, so I can honestly tell you my feelings about it. This novel is the best i've ever read on Qidian since the day my friend recommend the site(to help me learn Chinese). It's nothing similar to those trash out there which only include some boring stereotypes about the MC keeping "zhuangbi" and facesmacking. This novel really builds a world, you can easily see this, as you keep reading and moving forward with our MC, the world unfolding itself before your eyes. Steampunk, Cthulhu, Victorian era style, SCP...These tags are just tags, they can't describe the true spirit of the novel. The author creates this world based upon these ideas, but there's definitely not only these ideas. It has more. As to what it holds, it awaits you to find out.Due to this author's excellent character portrait, you as a reader will get a feeling as if these characters were real: they really live in that world. It's not fake; at least the author won't let you feel so. I found what I felt when I was still a boy reading the hobbit and the lord of ring. I mean I'm not comparing this novel to J.R.R.Tolkien's great masterpiece. It's just that me as a stupid reader who didn't like reading before at all got this stupid feeling, never mind it if you don't like my words. I won't eat them anyway.
This book pulled me in and I legit cannot get enough. Each character is unique and has piqued my interest- I cant wait to learn more about them! I hope the author updates soon!

Okay, can we just talk about Madam Su for a second because THIS woman is a masterpiece of passive-aggressive villainy. The scene where she covers her nose with a handkerchief at the gifts is already painting the picture, but then she turns around and puts on the FULL loving mother-in-law act when Tang Zheng (the newly minted Xiucai) is within earshot? The switch is so fast it's dizzying. She even says 'I've always treated her like my own daughter' while Tang Mei is literally trembling. The author does this brilliant thing where Madam Su's dialogue is always performative—everything she says is for an audience. She's not actually being kind to Tang Mei; she's being kind to the reputation she wants to project. And the worst part? Tang Mei KNOWS this. She plays along. She says 'My mother-in-law treats me very well' right to her face while her knees are bruised black. That's not just weakness—that's survival. She's protecting her brother's exam prospects, protecting her family from scandal, protecting herself from being labeled ungrateful. The power dynamic here is so suffocating. Madam Su holds all the cards: social status, family reputation, the ability to make life hell without anyone being able to prove it. And Tang Mei is trapped not by chains but by obligation and fear. What breaks me is that Tang Mei genuinely believes she deserves this, that it's 'normal' for daughters-in-law to suffer. That internalized oppression is what makes Madam Su's power complete. How does someone break free from a prison they've convinced themselves they built themselves?
