Let me just say — the pacing in these chapters is absolutely masterful and I need everyone to understand what the author is doing here because it's not easy. The chapter opens with Bai Qi in full investigator mode, all sharp edges and tactical planning. Then it cuts to Yaoyao in her kitchen at dawn, and suddenly we're in this completely different world. The sensory details of the cooking process — the beef fat melting, the Sichuan peppercorns sizzling, the precise timing of adding each spice — this isn't just filler. It's building a rhythm, a heartbeat for the story. You can feel the heat, smell the aroma, and honestly? I was hungry. Like genuinely hungry. And then the competition hits. Zui Xian Lou appears out of nowhere and suddenly the peaceful rhythm of the eatery is disrupted. The author doesn't rush this — we see the queue shrink day by day, Zhao wiping the same doorframe, the revenue dropping thirty percent. It's slow-burn tension that actually works because we've invested in this little eatery and its people. But here's where it gets clever: just when you think the business drama is the main conflict, Bai Qi shows up at night. The scene transitions from daytime stress to nighttime intimacy, from public struggle to private connection. And then — BAM — Chang An's report about the Chen shop's increased shipments. The story pivots back to the investigation subplot right when you thought it was abandoned. The chapter ends with that image of the Chen shop's back courtyard ablaze with light, carts rolling in, and "a pair of eyes silently tallying the count" in the shadows. Cliffhanger? Absolutely. But it's the kind that makes you immediately want to turn the page, not the kind that feels manipulative. The author trusts us to hold multiple threads in our heads and weaves them together like a pro.

Initially, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality! However, as the story progresses and the main character gains immense strength from the abundant rewards earned by overcoming the book's challenges, my concern arises. At chapter 53, the protagonist is portrayed as powerful, on par with Captain America, as acknowledged in the narrative, and wealthy, although it's unclear if the currency is US dollars.
There have been instances where the main character displays his power, like when he defeated a wealthy kid to protect a coworker, but it hasn't been excessive and didn't bother me much. Yet, there were moments while reading that left me slightly uncomfortable, despite the engaging wit and intelligence displayed in overcoming obstacles.
One reason I initially gave it 5 stars was the protagonist's reliance on strategy rather than brute force. But as the story leans more towards a supernatural and horror genre with a rapidly escalating protagonist, maintaining balance becomes challenging. The rapid increase in strength might undermine the charm that initially drew me to this novel. I hope this won't be the case, but I'm worried it might lose its appeal.
In terms of translation, it's decent. Unfortunately, the novel has let me down. Although it started promisingly, I no longer find it worth my time. My advice is to avoid reading it, as you might share the same disappointment. I'm giving it a 1-star rating because it had considerable potential that was not fully realized.
This book is truly my go-to comfort read when I'm feeling low. Its gentle nature, well-developed characters, and their ability to communicate effectively captivate me. There's no excessive drama; it's a heartwarming story of boys maturing, forming friendships, and embracing their unique qualities. I absolutely adore it!

Uhhh... as much as I really like Mech novels, this one kinda feels so slow and there is virtually no plot development/ worldbuilding in the first few chapters. The first 100 chapters seems to be narrating the MC's daily life from how he trained to how he battles to how he interacts with people. No lore or anything, or like a major villain or group, just plain slice of life of a reincarnated person.
I have only read up to chapter 100 so Im not sure about the remaining chapters, but currently I dont really have the interest to continue reading since its quite boring, plus it is much worst when it feels lIke I am reading MTL Poetry which further dampens my interest in reading. Anyways, this is just my honest opinion for the first 100 chapters.
