I was tempted to give this story a chance, because the synopsis is pretty enticing, but damn look at the tags!
I haven't read it yet, but I always feel uncomfortable when the couple engages in physical activities when the woman is pregnant...and I suspect that happens here?

Seeing people call this novel good is like hearing children talk about topics they have no clue about, just because they can. Its like they have no idea how ignorant they are. Ignorant to their own ignorance. An unknown unknown.
I truly pity the fool who lives his life unaware that this is not good reading.

This story shares a similar backdrop with "The Transmigrator’s Family Has a Son-in-Law," but there are distinct differences:
- While "The Transmigrator’s Family Has a Son-in-Law" might feel like many other BL cultivation novels, "MMIB" introduces a modified cultivation foundation. The main lead (ML) doesn’t possess many advantages in this new life. Originally, he was a feared villain, but in his current incarnation, he no longer holds that status.
- The narrative is quite humorous, and the characters are appealing. Besides the main character (MC), there are numerous other transmigrators who add depth to the story.
- However, I find the MC's system hard to accept; it feels vague and overly powerful. There’s no sense of effort or struggle in acquiring the knowledge related to medicine preparation; everything just materializes out of nowhere.
At the very least, the friendship between the MC and ML is noteworthy. They only slept together once at the beginning to save ML, after which they returned to being good friends.
I must express my genuine disappointment here. I really enjoy stories with narrowed-eyed characters, but the adaptation felt lackluster. They essentially took Trafalgar Law's power, altered it with elements from Demon Slayer, attempting to differentiate it, but it didn't impress me much. The addition of demon princes attending the academy with female characters had potential, but repetitive content made it tiresome. The main character's strictness doesn't quite match the typical portrayal of narrow-eyed characters, which I believe should be more disciplined.
Despite giving it a second chance by reading a few chapters later, the lack of originality persisted, and I found the interactions between the MC and female characters frustrating. It annoyed me how easily these girls fell for him, making it seem forced and unrealistic. There are, however, redeeming aspects, which is why I'm giving it two stars instead of just one.
This adorable ideal seems to revolve around treating slaves gently in bed, with consequences for mistreatment, like having slaves dine on the floor unless allowed otherwise. It aims to present a vanilla-centric kink, emphasizing consent at every turn. However, the dynamic lacks authenticity – masters constantly asking for permission and focusing on the slave's pleasure rather than dominance. Love is not the driving force here, but rather a lack of assertiveness from the supposed master.
The portrayal of "punishments" is weak, such as silent sex, which essentially becomes a form of pampering rather than discipline. The story fails to explore the deeper, more intense aspects of the slave/master dynamic, opting for a mundane and unadventurous scenario that could easily be replicated with mutual consent without any legal repercussions.
The slave's rights are portrayed as extensive, with mild "punishments" like watching them masturbate or gentle roughness. It reads more like an idealized fantasy than a genuine exploration of the kink. The author appears to be avoiding the darker aspects due to fear, turning the "slave/master" dynamic into a tame certification of owning a maid, rather than an intense power exchange.
The most risqué element mentioned was a passing comment about some masters walking their sexual slaves bare, but even that was never acted upon, causing discomfort for the main character. Overall, this portrayal is not what one would expect from a true slave/master relationship, and it falls short of being a compelling or authentic representation of the kink.
Having immersed myself in "Ovala," I found the narrative to be a captivating blend of mystery and emotional depth. The protagonist's journey was compelling, as they unraveled secrets within a seemingly ordinary town. The prose was elegant, painting vivid pictures that left me hooked from start to finish. The unexpected plot twists kept my heart racing, while the characters' growth resonated deeply. Overall, "Ovala" is a thought-provoking read that lingered long after the last page, making it a standout addition to my literary collection.
