I like this story???
This is great!!. Totally worth it
I have to say the scene where Bai Ruanruan follows Gu Zhenxi upstairs to retrieve her things — the author really painted this picture. The aunt's family had just moved there a month ago, and Bai Ruanruan is taking mental notes about the layout. She's not just being nosy, she's strategically observing. And then that small room filled with the Gu family's valuables, the oil paper bag stuffed into her arms, the whole atmosphere of this cramped space packed with stolen goods. I could literally see it like a film scene. The contrast between the warm domestic setting — pajamas, yawning, slippers kicking loudly on the stairs — and the cold calculation happening underneath is brilliant. Every detail matters: the fact that Gu Zhenxi's slippers make noise when she walks, the way she closes the door quickly like she's hiding something, the small room that's clearly meant to be off-limits but she lets Bai Ruanruan in. It's all worldbuilding through action, not exposition. The house itself becomes a character — this place where stolen things are kept in a locked room, where family dynamics play out across different floors and rooms. And Bai Ruanruan memorizing the layout for her next move? Chills. The setting isn't just background, it's part of the strategy.
The initial sections were quite challenging to read, as the author seemed to push nationalism to an extreme. However, towards the middle or slightly later on, I didn't perceive any strong sense of Chinese dominance (as far as I could tell). The main character behaves similarly, but he starts off incredibly overpowered. I appreciate his constant learning, but the starting point was too elevated for my taste. The opportunity for growth felt minimal; it mostly happened towards the end of the story. What irked me the most was the lack of elements like cultivation or ghost realms – excluding the final world, there wasn't much fantasy.
Upon reflection, I noticed that this author is also responsible for one of my all-time favorite novels, "Face of the Devil." Why did the writing quality decline so significantly?
When in the House of Solis will this update. I might lose my celibacy before Lord Solis graces me with this fine creation again. I must not commit such great sin.
if you guys enjoyed orv, definitely check this novel out since it's more of a short read and has veryyy similar themes to orv. to me it felt like a rough draft of orv since you'll see connections between the two novels. but yeah this was an incredible story that gives you a lot to think about (cycles, ego, present>past, revolution, etc.) however i think development within the characters was a bit lackin besides jaehwan, so i personally had an issue getting attached to any of them. but yeah maybe if this novel was longer and fleshed out, it would have the potential to be on par with orv but orv is just a masterpiece.
Can someone tell me if MC will have a harem or polygamy? Because I dont want to read and get attached only to find harem or polygamy which I hate and abandon the novel. Thank you and have a nice day

This is one of the stories that made me literally bawl my eyes out. Though I get frustrated with the ML and FL, it didn't stop me from finishing this story. I recommend this one.
