Okay, let me just say this opening is ABSOLUTE FIRE. The plot setup in these first few chapters is so tight and layered. You've got the poisoned wine scene right at the start—Princess Huayang forcing Xue Ning to drink Qingsigu poison, and the fact that Xue Ning actually SEES the maid slipping poison into the wine but nobody believes her? That's such a classic betrayal setup, but it's executed with real emotional weight because we've already been shown how the family dynamics work. The structure here is brilliant. Chapter 1 drops us into the crisis immediately—no slow buildup, just straight into the poison, the betrayal, the abandonment. Then Chapter 2 shows the aftermath and introduces Feng Xian, the deposed Crown Prince, who literally saves her from being trampled by a horse. And Chapter 3? That's where the family dynamics really crystallize. Xue Ning sees her brothers doting on Xue Mingzhu while she's been walking back in the heat, and she makes this pivotal decision to stop caring. What I love is how the plot threads are already weaving together. The poison gives her a ticking clock—less than a year to live. She encounters the most dangerous man in Jingdu. Her family has completely rejected her. But instead of this being a tragedy, it feels like the beginning of something else entirely. The plot is setting up what I'm guessing will be a revenge or redemption arc, and honestly? I'm hooked.

Definitely a huge switch from the author’s other works, but I’m seriously enjoying it! Lus and his fridge demon are hilarious together. And I love the cooking chapters. They are so cozy and fun.Will update as more chapters come out! Excited to see the FMC too ☺️
