I'll give 4 stars on everything simply because you're an original author, and your book has potential, however, Mark's arrogant internal monologue just ended up giving me a headache, his character that didn't fit the descriptions you gave at the start made him even more annoying to the point where I had to give up at the end of the rooftop chapter, and just skim read ahead to at least give a reasonable review... the main things that led to my problems with Mark are that quite simply, nothing about him makes sense, he's unusually handsome yet apparently is massively depressed, self confidence is extremely important in making someone seem attractive... the man was seriously considering suicide, I get him wanting to live because the zombie apocalypse is fascinating, but if that's the case, he'd either entirely forget his desire to die, or spend some time coming to terms with it, not mention it every few minutes for you to seemingly, bolster your word count, which is honestly what the first chapters felt like...then, there's his arrogance that seems to shine through when speaking to the woman that saved his life because he stupidly said he wanted to fight some zombies, then decided to run around a sofa instead, while still acting like he's freaking action man, and seemingly, no-one even blinked an eye to it...the hints at him being a gamer in the first chapter seemed really important, then his actions didn't even slightly follow that trend, a gamer would come to terms with there being zombies fast, sure, but there are other important things they'd remember too, like if there's a corpse twitching on the ground, stab it in the head, they wouldn't just loot first, and let the zombie turn in the same room as them...
when i read the reviews i honestly felt like i probably wouldn't like this novel but this novel, However i was pleasantly surprised by how much i've enjoyed it. The main character is likeable and has a visible depth and as the novel progresses his growth is obvious to the reader. There is intrigue, there is sex, there is drama. Everything is in this novel, and everything is well thought out and planned and any issues that are in the novel the author is very interactive and discusses them and remedies if need be. And tbh i cant really find any fault apart from minor grammar issues. And for all those who are wondering, NO. There is no NTR and should read the novel and see for yourself.

The dialogue in this batch is absolutely phenomenal and I need to discuss it because the author has a real gift for making every character sound distinct. Let me start with Yu Hongyu — his voice is immediately recognizable. 'Did you rob a bank or something?' when his niece hands him ten taels of silver. This is a man who has lived through hardship and his first instinct isn't gratitude, it's disbelief mixed with humor. And then his apology when he realizes how he sounded — 'quickly laughed it off, apologizing repeatedly.' He's flawed and lovable. Madam Wu's 'Hahaha, you mischievous monkey' — three words and you know exactly who this woman is. She's the warm, laughing matriarch who sees through everyone's antics. But the dialogue that made me scream internally was Yu Banxia's exchange with the blocking woman. 'This is a matter of life or death… Mmmph!' — the narration does the work there but the implication is everything. And then her calm follow-up: 'I'll remove it after I save the patient. You're too noisy.' She doesn't raise her voice. She doesn't threaten. She just states it as a fact, the way a doctor might tell a patient to hold still for a shot. The woman's reaction — 'stared at Yu Banxia with wide, terrified eyes, as if she wanted to swallow her whole' — is perfect comic relief mixed with genuine fear. Xu Yong's dialogue is also great. He's desperate, he's rude without meaning to be ('What? Yu Banxia, that infatuated girl? Sorry, sorry'), he apologizes constantly. You can feel his panic and his guilt. And the old neighbor — 'Young man, you shouldn't be so disrespectful. He's Scholar Yu—why add old to it?' This is such a natural, slightly grumpy elder voice. The family toast scene has this wonderful collective energy: 'Well said!' the whole family chimed in. It's brief but it creates this sense of warmth and unity. Even the midwife's dialogue is distinct — she's skeptical, traditional, resistant, but ultimately professional enough to step aside when outmatched. 'Since we've invited the young doctor, let's trust her.' She's not happy about it but she's practical. The author never lets any character sound like a mouthpiece for the plot — they all have their own voices, their own priorities, their own ways of expressing fear and hope and gratitude.

I can't stand the main guy. He's scum. I hope she finds out she's rich and divorces him and then he can see the light and straighten up.

i like reading this book. i am into it that i cannot wait for an updated chapter.i just hope the writer will not drag the story far more with other complications that it will be boring to read. i hope henry and monique would admit their feelings for each other soon..got married and have a happy fam
