"Home?" Qi Wuyang's gaze swept from the keys back to her face. He frowned slightly, the word seemingly incomprehensible to him. This line. This single line. I read it three times and I'm still not over it. Xu Songhe, this girl who was just transported to a completely foreign world, who doesn't even know the name of the man she's trying to befriend, offers him her house keys and calls him "husband" like it's the most natural thing in the world. And the word "home" doesn't even register for him. It's such a small moment but it carries SO much weight — she's building a life in a world that isn't hers, and the person she's trying to connect with literally doesn't understand the concept of having a home. Then there's the scene where she's alone in that small furnished house, watching snow fall outside the window. She's from the South, she's never seen snow, and she's just... sitting there, exhausted, wondering if she's dreaming, admitting to herself "I just can't accept the fact that I'm never going home." The word home appears again, but this time it's about HER home, the one she left behind. Two different meanings of the same word, colliding in the same chapter. That's not accidental writing, that's intentional emotional layering and I appreciate it. And then she gets captured, chained, whipped, and through all of it her first thought isn't even about dying — it's about the favorability meter. "Still zero after all this time?" She's literally being tortured and her brain is still running on system gamification. That's both heartbreaking and kind of funny, which is exactly the tone this story has mastered.
An amazing book with a unique and interesting storyline! I love it! ♡ Keep up the good work 5/5
