Chrysalis is a story about a human transforming into an ant monster in a world where every living creature has access to the System. Writing Quality - There is little repetition that I noticed, which is an unfortunately common affliction among many of the novels on this site. It is easy to read and understand without seeming underdeveloped or basic. This is what should be the baseline for all the novels on this site to reach.Stability of Updates - I binged the whole story over the course of 2 days so I cannot comment on stability. I have seen a few apologies by the author for being late occasionally, but the overall reader reaction is positive in this regard. Story Development - At the time of this review, there are 446 chapters released. The story is fine. Anthony, a newly reborn ant monster, is sent out into the massive Dungeon and he wants to uncover why he was summoned and who is Gandalf (the name he gives the System), all the while undergoing adventures and meeting new people and monsters, and sometimes eating them. It has good pacing with lots of room left for new interesting events to occur. Character Design - The Protagonist is the weakest link in this story. Put frankly, he constantly acts in a manner which infuriated me and a number of other readers by making stupid choices that a normal person wouldn’t make. I believe this is deliberate on the author’s part as it happens a lot but always seems to work out in the main cast’s favor in the end. Some wasted potential comes in the form of the main character’s backstory as a human. In order to keep this review spoiler free I will refrain from talking about it directly, but every time it appears I feel disappointed. The other characters are better and far more interesting, if a bit cliché. I wish more time would be spent on them, but I also know that a similar web novel Kumo Desu Ga, Nani Ka? does just that and I can understand if the author wishes to be distinct from it. World Background - The world building is where this story shines. At the start of many chapters, the author will give a snippet from some in-universe books which gives the reader some insight into the world of Pangera and those who live in it. The setting feels more lived in and real than most other #system novels that I have read and the protagonist is less of a prophesied hero and more like just another person in this world. Very Good.Overall - if you are interested in something to pass the time in an enjoyable manner without having to pay ridiculous premium costs, then I can recommend this novel wholeheartedly. Finally, 8 legs are better than 6.Fight me.
I usually don´t write reviews but for that one I really have to.This book has a good concept and the author´s writing is good. These are its only pros .Now for the cons. There are MANY.At times the MC seems dumb , at others the author tries to make him appear smart( Yes he appears smart but isn´t), and the while thing about him acting superior or badly to gain SP doesn´t make him great either . Plus , a big turn off for me is how he doesn't take time to REALLY plan his actions ( he didn´t take time to question why his watch had that weird app and what was the purpose of that app . Even the previous owner´s life was shoved aside, arguing that it wasn´t all that important at that time)morn about his past life ( I honestly think that he should be shown sad and bamboozled - for some time at least- because he just arrived in another world and even if his parents weren´t that important in his life, seing how he cares about his book that he didn´t put an end to, he needs to be sad or frustrated.)Whatever strong emotion you want but not accept everything, know where he is and what he should do just when he arrived . Other than that , his major problem ( and other characters´ aswell) is their lack of consistancy. They are forgetable and do not have any traits that will make you think" These guys are great! I wish I could tag along with them!". What about the story then ?The story drags too much for unnecessary events . I still remember the ridiculous situation that lead him to become a fake couple with Charlotte, and how long ( 1or 2 chapters) it took to clear all that mess. I also don´t see the point in making the readers think they will eventually become a real couple , when it won´t be in the end ( the chapter ´fantasy´ which the author recommanded to read to know about the real female lead reveals it ) and I feel sad for Charlotte too( she seems to be getting her hopes up ).We all know that Evelyn is going to be the real fl. And that´s annoying ( can´t you authors of books like ´ the novel´s extra´ write about a non icy yet likable and useful fl ?).You see , i´m not even taking about the plot but the characters because I see no real plot execution. Now let´s talk about world building. The book is still in its early stage so there aren´t much world building . But the little bit of world building the author did is nothing out of the ordinary and the info dump is rather annoying. To sum up , I recommand you " the extra´s odyssey" , because this book here needs to be rewrote .
I am only slightly more than 10 chapters into this novel and translation is bad, math is even worse, and every single person is about as sharp as marble. Not a single person truly questions how the MC is able to acquire anything. As far as I can tell, there is no dimensional pocket technology in this world, and despite this, nobody questions how the MC is able to pull out dozens of cans from literally nowhere. The MC's explanations of what is going on holds about as much water as a soup strainer. I am willing to read bad novels, but this is just too much. How did this show up as a recommended book?
Author I have a question if you can answer it I will be happy! Is there a romance in this novel? TKeep it up and thank you nevertheless. ♥♥♥
This is a really great start! Cooking-based stories are really hard to come by and it's refreshing to see this genre used again. My mom is a chef so I grew up cooking and stories like these are really fun to read especially if they involve real recipes and techniques. Also, the interactions the MC has with Rena are hilarious and I'm always a fan of the simple and blunt main character who is actually really skilled at what he does. This was just really fun to read and writing is really good. Also, the dialogue is incredibly natural and it helps a lot with the immersion. Really great! Looking forward to more!
The story started well shaping up to be real antihero tale. But. Then he desided to change and. Be a. Hero for no real reason someone that good at. Killing and that driven would not change. There emo that easily. Or that fast making the story go downhill fast all in all. Started good showed real. Promise then went to sh. It
She's going to go right through his world and he would not know what happened. He is a fool. And I cannot wait for more chapters to come out in the near future. He's going to regret what he did on his wedding night.
A lovely start ? this shameless reader demands for more chapters! (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ彡┻━┻And I hope our doggo will write more when u have time cuz leaving us on a cliff hanger is a big nono :PThank u for the chapter~ ganbatte ?
I must say that I love his story and writing style, the big problem with the story is that he never updates, I keep telling him to write more, but none so far.
..................................................................................................just being shameless to rate it five stars
