The review's content might change as I'm not too far along, but it's off to a promising start. The protagonist, Qi Yu, is portrayed as intelligent, mischievous yet endearing, striking a nice balance that isn't easy to achieve. The male lead (ML) currently lacks depth, but there's potential for more complexity as the story progresses.
It does slightly stretch my suspension of disbelief that the MC's warning managed to significantly temper the ML's initially intense, violent reaction to betrayal by his long-serving servant. However, considering it's a yaoi story, it's expected that the ML will have a unique and protective dynamic with the MC from the beginning.
The story revolves around a love-hate dynamic between the protagonist and antagonist. The protagonist, often referred to as a Mary Sue, displays an arrogant and straightforward demeanor, which can be off-putting. On the other hand, the villain is a formidable force, hiding a fake persona and exhibiting ingratitude. Despite her seemingly unlucky fate, she refuses to back down, embodying a relentless streak.
This dichotomy leaves the audience somewhat conflicted with the villain's character arc. Her journey, marked by a downward spiral, raises questions about whether her eventual downfall was deserved due to her negative choices and continuous ill fortune. Yet, one can't help but admire her resilience until the very end, making her story worthy of applause despite its tragic undertones.
Is this worth it to read even though it's not finished?
Wow.. how to explain this book... so much tragedy and sorrow. I almost gave up. There was a hint midway through that stuck with me that kept me going to finish it. I knew there had to at least be some kind of HEA.. however it left out and ending for Cheng and Qin.. not happy about that. None the less it was well written!!
Watch the animated series first imo, it's always easier to get into novel after watching it's adaptation and this one is really good. Honestly, I read it a while ago so I don't remember how quality was it but I do remember that it was enjoyable

I saw the raw version of this novel it's until 1,500 plus chapters, since it's updates comes once in awhile i think I'm dropping this novel,The story has a promise but you can't expect others to wait 2022 to finish last chapter
