I just finished this section and I need a moment because the pacing here is absolutely ruthless and I respect it. Let me walk through how this unfolds, because the author is playing 4D chess with chapter structure: It starts intimate. Third Master and Third Madam, alone, talking about death and the future. Very quiet. Very slow. You think this is going to be a domestic scene about grief and family planning. And then—bam—servants announce Pei Xu's arrival and we pivot into a completely different register. The transition is so smooth you barely notice it happening. One moment you're watching a dying man hold his wife's hands, the next you're in a political thriller where the Duke of Wei might overthrow the Emperor and Pei Xu's wife is secretly pregnant. The Go board scene is where the pacing really accelerates. Every few lines, another revelation drops: - The Duke of Wei is seriously ill - Officials are pledging allegiance to the Emperor - Pei Xu's sister-in-law is pregnant - The Wei Mansion wanted to marry Pei Xu to Princess Yiyang - He was sent home to avoid it Each piece of information raises the stakes. The chapter starts at a whisper and ends at a shout. And the final line—"He rose solemnly"—cuts off mid-action. We don't get to see what happens next. He's about to refuse Third Master's proposal, and then the chapter just… stops. I stayed up way too late reading this because I needed to know what Pei Xu said next. That's good pacing. That's the author holding a hook in your throat and not letting go.
Let's talk about the conflict layering here because it's not just 'new boss vs employee.' That would be boring. The real conflict is Yu Sibai trying to maintain his carefully constructed low-stakes existence while the world keeps demanding more from him. The external conflict is obvious: Qian Yuanxin has been removed, Ji Wenze is the new power, and Yu Sibai is being eyed for a promotion he explicitly does NOT want. "If you're promoting me just to pit me against Qian Yuanxin and his nephew, then sorry, President Ji—I'm not capable." This is a man drawing a line in the sand. But the stakes go deeper than career politics. Internally, Yu Sibai is fighting the fear that his quiet, predictable life is about to be disrupted. His idol Execut2 represents everything stable and idealized—someone who stayed true to himself. Ji Wenze represents the opposite: a man who changed, who became something unrecognizable, who sits on bridges in the rain smoking unlit cigarettes. The conflict isn't just about whether Yu Sibai will accept the director position. It's about whether he'll stay the same person or be forced to grow into something he's not sure he wants to be. And Ji Wenze's conflict? He's a former esports legend who's now a ruthless businessman, and the fact that Respit2—his biggest fan, the kid he once gave 200,000 yuan to—doesn't even recognize him anymore? That's a different kind of stakes. It's the fear of being forgotten by the very people who mattered most. Both characters are standing on bridges, metaphorically and literally, deciding whether to step forward or turn back. The tension in every scene comes from knowing they're both afraid of the same thing: changing.
Author here.I know I seem confident rating my book five stars, it is cause we are going to love it.Alex is a guy whose childhood wasn't that good but learned to live with it.He is someone who sometimes finds himself in unfavorable situations, but survives through.I don't intend to include romance, but let me know your suggestions concerning this.Don't forget to add to your library
hmmm review, review, review. Yeah i don't know how to write those . I'm just doing this to support the author cuz the story is enjoyable, so give it a read, read a few chapters maybe you'll like it , maybe you won't, the title should tell you what to expect from it tho, so don't expect to read something that will change your perception about life. Ok all finished, and contrary to his name the author is not a failure ( those who know know )
Very impressive start for a story. Good and interesting narrative and a very original work overall . Just a few chapters have come out and I already feel invested. I hope you continue to write the story!

Honestly, I didn’t expect it to be this good. At first, I thought it might be a little boring since it’s a newer novel but wow it’s amazing! The story really hooked me, and the humor and action are on point. Keep up the great work, author!
