The young people all left for the city. Only the elderly and children remained. This single description does so much heavy lifting. It's not just scenery — it's a timeline. The reader can see the future in that field, the decay that's coming, and then immediately contrast it with the vibrant present. It's cinematic in the best way. You can practically see the camera panning across those green rows of corn, then cutting to a desolate version of the same land years later. And Jin Miao's reaction — just standing there, at peace, feeling healed by the fields — that's the author telling us this is the good part. This is what's worth fighting for. The pig farm idea that emerges from this scene is also brilliantly rooted in the setting. Those two patches of wasteland near the cornfield, the woods beyond, the policy context of the era where secretly raising livestock was risky but everyone was doing it — it all feels lived-in and real. The world isn't just a backdrop; it's actively shaping the characters' decisions.
I don't know if you've noticed but a lot of transmigration novels take themselves way too seriously, and the dialogue is all formal and stiff. This one? It reads like someone actually talking. Like when Bao Taozi's inner monologue is just "Hahaha, how could Bao Taozi not remember this?" and then immediately pivots to panic. That's not how people write, that's how people THINK. The narrative voice has this snarky, slightly unhinged energy that matches the protagonist perfectly. And the dialogue between her and Lawyer Qi? Natural as hell. His response "But those were all left to you by your mother. Tao Tao, are you in some kind of urgent need of money?" feels like something an actual worried uncle would say. Not dramatic, not over-the-top, just genuinely concerned. And her internal reaction—being amused and speechless because he probably thinks she committed a crime—is hilarious. The author doesn't need fancy dialogue tags or elaborate descriptions. A simple "Bao Taozi was both amused and speechless" does the job. The narration itself has this conversational tone, like the author is sitting across from you telling you about the book. Lines like "Who would have thought that because Lawyer Qi agreed so quickly, Long Ying assumed he must have a large amount of supplies" feel like gossip, not literature. And I mean that as a compliment. It's accessible, it's fun, and it doesn't make you feel stupid for enjoying it. The voice is consistent too—Bao Taozi's POV never slips into something more formal or poetic. She's a casual reader who got stuck in her own book, and the prose reflects that.

Writing no longer excites me—it’s become repetitive and, honestly, a bit boring.That said, I’m not giving up! This novel is nothing new, there are many of this type now... The MC transmigrates into the body of an extra hated by the family and must deal with all the difficulties that come with it. The period in which this "abuse" occurs is not long (35 chapters more or less) and not too hard so it is easily overcome... The quality of writing is simple but effective and the characters, despite not having who knows what past, are well characterized and appear "alive". This means that if the novel had no defects or at least they were few, reading would be pleasant and captivating for the most part but unfortunately this is not the case and most of the time the reader is left wondering: why? I don't want to touch on the subject of revenge or how or with whom he will want to take it since it is still in progress and I won't even comment on the dense isekai protagonist trait that he has even after being stabbed in the back (I had taken some privileged chapters to see the reaction at least to that: disappointment) ... However the biggest problem of the novel is the MC chained by having to necessarily be on par with the others since he never uses his brain or his power in order not to make him OP...Let me explain:-The MC from the first to the last fight practically uses only the sword ... is he sword god ? No and he is not even talented. His bloodline would allow him to create an ideal "character" by sacrificing traits of his ego and in addition he would become stronger at a disproportionate rate ... Does he do it? Only once in a desperate situation and sacrificing the first things that came to mind ... It would be enough to sit down and understand everything he can sacrifice without substantially affecting his person to make himself stronger but in 8 years he hasn't done it, ever ;-His bloodline always allows him to learn the skills of the monsters he kills but even after 2 years of C-rank portals he doesn't learn any of them or at least he doesn't use them as if this trait (OP) was forgotten;-He having knowledge of the novel could learn and use the darkness element but in 8 years it is not even mentioned after introducing it at the beginning as a way to become stronger quickly;-His magic never used and we don't even know how many and which affinities he has unlocked since he should have had as many as possible to absorb monsters of different elements;-Finally his summoning ability that is not used when he could only attribute it to his bloodline ...The exam chapters are damn frustrating to read... seeing a potentially OP MC having to fight because he doesn't use any of his traits and in the end even betrayed without reaction... All this leaves only a bitter taste, what a shame.
