The dialogue in this book is genuinely funny, and not in a forced way. Let me give you the best exchange: Xiaoyun the maid pouts and says, 'Concubine Guan, each person has a set allowance. Your meals are already at the standard. Going to the main kitchen won't help.' And Guan Xiyue just sneers back: 'Don't think I don't know you've been skimming the meat and dishes.' This is gold. The power dynamic is shifting right there—Xiaoyun thought she could bully a fat, unpopular concubine, but Guan Xiyue sees right through her. And the way the author writes it, you can HEAR the voices. Xiaoyun sounds like a sassy teenager. Guan Xiyue sounds like someone who's done with nonsense. Then there's Guan Xiyue's internal monologue, which is where the real voice shines. She thinks about modern food—sweet and sour spare ribs, pickled fish, braised pork—and contrasts it with her current diet. She jokes with herself about expecting synthesized sound effects from her Golden Finger. She calls the wounded man 'little black handsome man' in her head. This is a modern woman's voice in an ancient body, and the author never lets you forget it. The humor comes naturally from that disconnect. Ling Jingren's dialogue is sparse but sharp. 'What are you trying to do? Take advantage of me in my condition?' — he's wounded, paranoid, and suspicious, and the line captures all three. He's not wrong to be suspicious, but the reader knows she's literally saving his life. The dramatic irony is delicious. And Guan Xiyue's response—laughing in disbelief at his accusation—is perfect. She's not offended; she's amused that an ancient man would think she'd do something so indecent when she looks like THIS. The narrative voice itself is casual, almost conversational, which fits the transmigration genre perfectly. It doesn't take itself too seriously, and that's exactly what makes it enjoyable.

it was kind of slow and whiney in the beginning, ok first couple of sentences but after that it was freaking awesome!
