This book delves into the life of a character navigating a dark world while under immense pressure. As the character gains power, he uncover an even darker side to the world, leading him to adopt a darker persona, albeit with seemingly noble justifications. The narrative explores the interplay between the dark setting, the allure of power, and the protagonist's journey. However, the story falls short due to questionable reasons behind various plot developments, feeling more like forced storytelling at times. Despite persisting through 350 chapters, the increasing annoyance eventually led me to abandon it. I cannot recommend it unless you're truly desperate for reading material.
Finished another title by this author and have absolute faith that it's gonna be a good one!!! already stoked to see where this goes
best novel i read this far.everything is perfect.Story is too good.word background is something new, different from typical cultivation worlds and mage worlds(something between them).Characters are well done(not soulless things we see in every second novel).
i like the beginning will read it and put it on my reading list

Most of the females of this novel is trashy... seriously If I was Mc's place I would have chosen the true one. Who doesn't care about money or fame...

picked up this novel out of curiosity but totally fell in love with it. Really surprised by the quality of this novel. It might not be perfect but it is extremely entertaining. Hope it doesn't get dropped by the author as I am really enjoying it at the moment and looking forward to how the story turns out. This is definitely one of the most underrated original novels on this site.
I really love the concept Herb King and the focus on that instead of sword fighting, face slapping and killing.
The introduction is also really good and makes you want to read the novel.
What killed the novel less than 15 chapters in is how the main character is written and his interactions with other people.
The MC is not written consistently:
take for example the intro: the impression of the MC is that herbs and being a doctor is his passion and he actively seeks rebirth due to his regrets in life.
Read the first chapter: the impression of the MC is that he reaches the rebirth tree due to plotarmor(i kid you not: it was mentioned multiple times that he managed to reach the tree with the help of some "mysterious strength". The mysterious strength could have easily been replaced by passion, curiosity, willpower, etc and it would have given a better impression of the MC as that strengthens the intro about him). The MC ate the rebirth fruit without further thought and reason aside from that he saw it and felt a bit hungry. The following chapters are also showing the MC in quite bad or unimpressive light.
Another issue is the MC's mental age: Either the MC is an old man or a 3 year old ignorant dumb kid. He can't be either. No real human is both and in the novel the MC constantly switches between these depending on what the plot currently needs.
Another thing is the character interactions: The interactions between the MC and parents(dialogue, actions) is too short. It's like the reader is getting a glimpse and then the novel moves on. This glimpse is too short to give the reader a real lasting impression about the MC and his parents.
I am a fan if cultivation and gaming system novels and i have a pretty easy going judgement i never gave a novel les than 2 stars in 2years of reading but this one is a huge disgrace in all ways there is no character build except for the MC the comedy is so poor all the action is sooo poor the story is **** I thought first that it have a lot of potential but all went to the drain this novel i sooooo bad for any type of readers and I recommend getting as far as possible from it
The translation is not bad sorry for the score but I couldn’t go with it sorry my friend and u did a great work
This is actually on hiatus since the end of May, the last chapter was #149 on May 30th. There was no message by the author that I saw. It was one of those I followed daily so I'm hoping he picks it back up in July.

What is there more to say? It's Er gen, and I have never been disappointed with any of his work so far. I love I Shall Seal the Heaven and A Will Eternal, both have made me feels so much emotions. I had laughed like a maniac, and cry like a baby reading those two. 5/5 stars for me, you go Er Gen.
