We go from the quiet moment of Shen Qi discovering her spatial storage ability—'It was like putting meat in a refrigerator'—straight into the evening trap-checking, then immediately into the confrontation. There's no lull. The author understands that if you give readers a breather, they might put the book down, so every scene leads into the next one. And the chapter endings! Chapter 18 ends with the tribal leaders arriving to find the tied-up females. Chapter 19 ends with Si Jingzhan leaving and Bai Yuwei's possessive glare. Chapter 20 ends with the entire tribe in an emotional crisis over Ai Chu's capture. Each chapter closes on a note that demands continuation. The only slight drag is the hunting sequence at the beginning, but even that serves a purpose—it establishes Shen Qi's new spatial storage ability and shows her growing stronger. Nothing feels wasted. The author respects the reader's time while still delivering satisfying content.
I went into this expecting a slow burn family drama and got a full-on rollercoaster. The pacing is relentless in the best way. Chapter 1 establishes the rebirth premise, the sibling rivalry, the ferry journey, AND introduces the mysterious Western man with his parrots—all before the chapter is halfway done. Chapter 2 is mostly character moments and world-building, which gives you a breath between the chaos. Then Chapter 3 hits you with the Old Master's illness, the soul-devouring worms, the cure, and Wanwan's adoption into the family. That's a massive payoff after just three chapters. What I appreciate most is how the author controls the rhythm. There are scenes that move fast—like the eagle diving at the pond, or Tong Qianqian trying to hit Wanwan and tripping over a table leg—and then there are quieter beats, like Wanwan eating shrimp with her mouth full, or Zhang Nan finally hugging her daughter. Those quiet moments matter because they give you space to feel the emotions before the next wave of plot hits. The chapter endings are also well-timed. Chapter 1 ends with Wanwan lost on the ship. Chapter 2 ends with her at the Li estate meeting the Old Madam. Chapter 3 ends with the Old Master waking up. Each one gives you a complete mini-arc while pulling you forward. No dragging, no rushing—just the right amount of everything.

Although It’s good, if you release a few more chapters, it might become interesting enough for a lot of people to read. There is one major problem with this: The POV’s, you said there from chapter 6th onward, that there would only be first person view, but the next two chapters are literally 3rd person again?But if you fix this and do all the chapters in first person, it’ll be great.I feel like the writting start’s to get a lot better at chapter 10, so keep reading till that. But it got potential, I’ll say that.Good read?. Author just don’t fuck it up.
I’m not quite sure how I got sucked down into the world of BL novels but I’m enjoying this one! Sure the grammar isn’t fabulous, but it’s so much better than a lot of stories I’ve read. Sure this may be a new author, but the plot is great and I’ve fallen in love with Sian. He makes me laugh and cry and eagerly wait to see what he’ll do next. Such a bad-ass! The worst thing about this novel is the slow release of chapters, but it’s understandable for a first-time author. Author, don’t get discouraged and keep up the great work!!
