Great book overall but pretty difficult to read with everything being a text wall. So thats something to work on. Well thats all i wanted to say. Keep up the good work!! ??
This book is awesome ? you totally killed it Author ? by the end of the first chapter I was already drawn to the world of Mirabella and Michal. I felt compelled to read more about them without feeling rushed. If a writer could achieve that then you deserve accolades. Good work Author.
A pathetic back story it is for Alpha Joash... What a father he has. His mother is terrible! Nice story, highly recommend.

The bar scene is visually incredible. Let me paint it for you: dim corner, flickering lights from equipment scavenged from a discount store, haze and shadows making everything feel disorienting. Xu Zhizhi is this small, pale figure in a bulky padded coat that looks like a marshmallow, surrounded by loud music and flashing lights and people she doesn't know. The contrast between the overstimulating club environment and her internal experience of pure terror is rendered so vividly you can practically hear the bass thumping. But the scene that absolutely got me is the exit. She stumbles out, the security guard recognizes her as a VIP cardholder, tries to ask if she's okay, she doesn't respond, and so she just... crouches in a corner. Like a little mushroom. Eating bread rolls and hawthorn snacks and spicy strips from her enormous pockets. And the security guard looks at her the way he'd look at his own ninth-grade daughter. That detail broke me. This random guard sees a scared girl hiding in a corner and his instinct is paternal concern. He thinks about bringing her water. Then she pulls out a chicken wrap and a slice of pizza from another pocket and he's just... done. "What kind of down jacket has pockets this big?" The author uses this scene to show us Xu Zhizhi's entire world in miniature. She carries food everywhere. She sleeps in a dog bed. Her sofa still has plastic packaging on it. She lives alone in a house she bought with scholarship money. The bar is loud and dangerous and overwhelming, but the corner where she crouches eating is somehow the safest she's felt all night. The worldbuilding here isn't about elaborate fantasy worlds—it's about the devastating specificity of one girl's lonely life, rendered through the things she carries in her pockets.
I have to talk about the dialogue because this author knows how to write people who sound like actual humans instead of plot devices. Shen Xingyao's internal monologue is where it's at. Lines like: "Haven't seen a pig run, but haven't eaten pork either?" This is the kind of thing that makes you laugh out loud on the subway. It's so casually witty, so perfectly in character for someone who's just trying to survive by pretending to be something she's not. And then there's Wu Lele, who gets this incredible line: "I've seen more women with fox-like faces pretending to be wealthy ladies in our store than the number of grains of rice you've eaten in your life." That's not just mean—that's creative. That's the kind of insult that makes you wish you'd thought of it first. And it's perfect for this character because Wu Lele is clearly someone who prides herself on being sharp-tongued. But the real magic is in the silence between the lines. When Shen Xingyao says "I'm just browsing" and her palms are already sweating—that's dialogue doing double duty. She's performing calmness while her body betrays her. The sales assistants' dialogue is also spot-on. Linda's professional but increasingly perfunctory tone, Mary's gleeful sarcasm while filing her nails—it all feels so authentic. These are people who have spent years learning how to read customers, and their words carry that weight. Even the untranslated bits work. "Bold! Unapologetic! The young miss has arrived—make way!" reads like a narrator stepping in to cheerlead, and it fits the tone perfectly. This author doesn't waste words on dialogue. Every line either reveals character or advances the scene. Sometimes both.
