Okay, I need to talk about this opening chapter because holy shit. The stakes are set SO high right from page one. We have a public wedding humiliation that could destroy Xie Ning's reputation, and then Lu Tingyan reveals he orchestrated it for REVENGE. Like, the tension just keeps stacking and stacking. The moment she smashes those cameras in the dark? I literally gasped. She's standing there in a wedding dress, completely betrayed, and instead of breaking down, she goes full predator mode. That's when I knew this wasn't gonna be some weak protagonist who cries and gives up. She's fighting back, and the stakes just got personal. But then Lu Tingyan drops the bomb about her causing his brother's death — and suddenly everything changes. It's not just a failed wedding anymore, it's a marriage built on mutual hatred and hidden agendas. What does she stand to lose? Her reputation, her dignity, maybe her life if he's really as ruthless as he seems. What does HE stand to lose? I don't know yet, but something tells me he's not as cold as he's pretending to be. The author does this amazing thing where every scene raises the stakes higher. First it's the public humiliation, then the private confrontation, then we find out she's been scheming for TEN YEARS. Who's manipulating whom at this point? I'm completely invested now.
