Let me just say this: the Chang Gongzhu banquet scene is absolutely cinematic. You've got all these noblewomen gathered, the atmosphere is tense, and Shen Xinyan is sitting there knowing someone tried to drug her. The side door moment where she drags Yao Jinning out — I could literally see this in my head like a film scene. The contrast between the public elegance of the garden and the private violence that follows, it's so well done. But what really makes this world feel alive is how the author shows us the power structure through physical space. The main courtyard where Madam Yao Li holds court — it's described almost like a tribunal, with all the concubines seated around like advisors to a tyrant. 'The atmosphere was reminiscent of a triple tribunal.' That line! It's not just a description, it's a statement about how this family operates: women policing women, hierarchy enforced through fear. And the carriage ride back! Just Shen Xinyan and Yao Jinning sitting in silence, with those sharp glances exchanged between them. The confinement of that space, the unspoken threat hanging in the air — it's so much more terrifying than any physical confrontation. Then Yao Jinning immediately whispers to her maid Xiao Zhi the moment they enter the Yao Fu gates, like she's already summoning the wolves. The author never lets you forget: every room, every carriage, every doorway is a battlefield in this world.
The stakes escalation in these chapters is absolutely relentless and I am here for it. We start with personal stakes—Xiao Yu searching for his missing sister, which is already emotionally charged. Then the Liyuan discovery adds a moral and civic layer: corrupt officials are imprisoning and torturing their own people. Xiao Yu's conflict becomes external (fight the corrupt system) and internal (his confidence was naive, he was 'protected too well'). But the real stakes explosion happens at the You Pavilion. Pavilion Master Qinglan reveals that the Emperor himself caused the Eastern Palace tragedy. Suddenly Xiao Yu's entire quest isn't just personal anymore—it's political treason. If he pursues the truth, he's opposing his own father, the Emperor. And he's thirteen years old, surrounded by enemies at every level. The tension here is maintained brilliantly because every answer creates a deeper question. Who imprisoned those people? Why? What does the Emperor have to do with it? What does the You Pavilion know? The author never lets you settle into comfort, and the final line—'Almost no one knew the true cause of that incident. The fact that this person had effortlessly exposed it...'—leaves you absolutely desperate for the next chapter. What does Qinglan know that nobody else does?
Faithless reader here. ?The three other reviews are mine but not mine at the same time. This is my first Lightnovel and my only one. The Witch Hunter System???
simply trash MC, and that's only for the 5th chapter, and going forward, it only seems that he will continue being more trashFrom getting cucked to groveling under a nurse feet and there is some indications in these 5 chapters that he might forgive the gf that cucked him, though I am not sureThe main point is that this is not for everyone, if you are the same as me don't waste your time on this otherwise feel free to read it.
I love the story very much already... I hope it will become more & more interesting ??? ???????? Luca?Xavier?????
awesome, wonderful, cool story. one of the best story I have ever read
Got interested because I'm writing a story in a similar genre and thought to check this out.The story is quite complex and it's clear the author has put a lot of thought into it. grammar is good and most times you know what's happening so you don't get lost.my major irk would be the fact that some parts are basically mirroring events in LoTM. I can understand drawing inspiration since I do same but when events are basically the same, I'd have to say that it's not really good. All in all, good story with potential for greatness however I'd advise author to not overdo it with the inspiration aspect so it doesn't end up being blatant plagiarism.Anyway, that's all for now, bye ✨
the story is great, It's just that the story doesn't say even once what type of monster the MC is or what he even looks like. but the story is still good
