Its good storyline.. Not the typical boring FL, i love her character..

This was 4/5 up until around chapter 58, where you get a front-row seat to the male lead (ML) degrading into a complete incel.
His treatment of the female lead (FL) is completely unjustified and entirely unnecessary.
First of all, the FL:
- Is traumatized due to her abusive father
- Desires freedom, just like anyone else
- Her mother arranged her engagement without any consideration for her feelings
- Her hatred for the ML is entirely justified given what his former self did to her
The ML’s actions are completely out of line, as he treats her terribly for something she had no control over. He just comes off as a complete jerk who is severely abusing his power.
I don’t understand how people giving this a 5/5 have no issue with this behavior.
I don’t know what I expected from reading this Chinese trash, but I wholeheartedly detest the author and deeply regret reading this piece of garbage.
The issue is that the execution was so poor. Yes, I understand the twist. However, the problem lies in the fact that you almost need to be spoiled about the twist to even attempt to appreciate it. This, I believe, is where it fails. You have to wade through a lot of subpar content just to reach a somewhat decent story.
If you hadn't been spoiled, you probably wouldn't find it worth the effort at all. Even now, I don't think it's worth slogging through all of that.
Consider Chekhov's Gun: if a gun is introduced in one scene, it should be used in the next. This principle implies there should be some foreshadowing or hint. Here? Not at all. You get shot and only then do you see the gun.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story, it was so captivating that I couldn't resist reading it even though it was originally in another language! It was definitely worth the time spent on it. What I appreciated most was the gradual development of trust between the main character (MC) and the male lead (ML). Unlike many stories where the guy suddenly showers the girl with excessive affection without clear context, this narrative portrayed a more authentic connection.
There was one character, Yin Zhilin, whose situation tugged at my heartstrings. I couldn't help feeling sorry for him; it seemed like his parents' actions pushed him into a downward spiral. Initially, he was a kind-hearted person, but after a traumatic event triggered by his father, he became the villain in the story. It's unjust that he had to suffer for the consequences of his parents' selfishness, particularly his domineering mother, who struck me as revolting.
Fortunately, the ending provided a satisfying resolution.
Turns out the translation group that was working on this before has stopped for some reason. Either the group has been disbanded, or the novel has been dropped. Either way, the new translators are a group called Moorim Novel. This is one of the novels i have been so invested on. I really like the plot twists of every stories like when you feel bad for certain characters then in the next chapter you will realize that they deserve what happened to them. It's so full of unexpected events that I can't get enough of them.
"Ascension through skills" is a good one, or "Why should I stop being a villain". The only problem is that they haven't updated in a while (like around a month or so), but they are good reads in my opinion.
