The chapter transitions in this section are wild. You go from a lavish performance scene with red silk ribbons and a zither playing "Autumn Waters Treading the Moon" to Pei Nai's migraine flashback to battlefield imagery, then to her training in the forest at dawn, then to a sudden combat encounter with Qilu envoys. The author doesn't let you breathe between modes. Chapter 10 is all atmosphere and emotional devastation. Chapter 11 pivots to world-building through Ju Yan's perspective on the political situation—the Duke vs. the Emperor, the tension between civil and military power, the earthquake in Qingzhou. Then Chapter 12 drops us into a fight scene with Gongyang Zisheng and the Wuqiang Sword. What I appreciate is that none of these sections feel disconnected. The performance scene establishes Lady Xuanwu as a plot threat. The Ju Yan rooftop scene establishes the Duke's emotional stakes and the political landscape. The forest fight introduces a new faction (Qilu) and a rival martial artist who can actually challenge Pei Nai. The pacing is deliberate but fast—each scene earns its place by advancing either character, plot, or world simultaneously. My only complaint: the transition from Pei Nai's emotional breakdown after seeing Lady Xuanwu to her casually training in the forest the next morning felt a bit abrupt. But honestly, that's probably the point—she has to move on, she has no choice.
When will there be updated chapters to this book. It’s really getting good.
I’m on chapter 4120 what ever happened to lily or Shannon the south cloud queen and Darryl’s daughter with the emei sect? Or his kid with Shannon as well as yuri and jewel? And quite a few others that follow him
