I am not really into sci-fi fiction, so this novel felt quite new to me. I believe the starting could've been better, especially that information dumping part. The way of describing the situation can be improved even more to ease the flow in reading. Otherwise, the storyline is very interesting. Best of luck author!
Although I am not a sci-fi fan, your story is really immersive. When I started reading the first chapter, I never thought I would be be hooked up with this story. I am going to hang on and read further chapters.This story is very well written and perfectly paced. Although there are some info dump like in chp 5, but it is an essential part of the story to understand the characters and the story flow.The character design and world setting is topnotch.Overall this is a good read.Good work author. :)

I would place this novel with some high ranking story, based on potential; the characters aren't cutouts. They make rational and irrational decisions that fit their personality.I'm not able to guess the plot or what willhappen nextGive it a try, its intriguing where the story isprogressing with little predictable that is a familiar turn off for the system-oriented genre
There are so many layers to unpack in this chapter and I keep finding new ones. The central symbol is obviously cooking. Shen Jin cooking isn't just a hobby—it's her path to independence. Xiao Heng sees it immediately: "She's finding herself a way out. A path to survive even if she leaves the General's Manor." The old Shen Jinshu clung to others; the new one learns to stand on her own. Every meal she makes is an act of self-preservation, a declaration that she will not be dependent on anyone's mercy. And the fried rice—leftovers transformed into something golden and satisfying—is the perfect metaphor for her entire arc. She takes what she has and makes it work. Then there's Yuanbao, the cat. Named by Su Qingyin, meaning "gold ingot" or prosperity. Xiao Heng sends it as a gift, but Shen Jin insists she's only keeping it out of pity. The cat becomes this invisible thread between them—she won't acknowledge what it represents, he won't acknowledge why he sent it. And the cat itself? It just wants to sleep and be fed. It's completely unaware it's been weaponized as a romantic gesture. I love that for it. The moon appears twice—once watching Shen Jin analyze her day, once watching Xiao Heng lie awake. It's the silent witness to their parallel longing, the one constant in a world that's shifting beneath their feet. "Under the same moon"—classic but effective because it works. And the deeper theme: transformation. Everyone has changed. Shen Jin has awakened. Su Qingyin has softened. Even Shen Mingzhu, the former antagonist, is now offering genuine advice and hiding her guilt behind a smile. The original story's plot has derailed completely, and the question hanging over everything is whether these characters can find happiness on their own terms, or whether the world will force them back into their assigned roles. Shen Jin wants to open a restaurant. Xiao Heng dreams of domesticity. They're both reaching for something real—and that's what makes this story so compelling.
