Okay so I have to talk about this opening scene because honestly it was the most tense moment in these chapters. Lu Zhan basically just destroyed Lin Yutang with three sentences and I was sitting there like wow. The way he coldly reminded her that pleading for a corruption convict could get her entire family exiled too? Chef's kiss. It immediately established that this isn't some fluffy romance where the male lead is soft for pretty girls—this is a man who plays by rules and the stakes are literally life and death in this dynasty. The plot device of the corruption case hanging over everything is brilliant because it's not just background lore. It's actively shaping every interaction. Lin Yutang's mistake wasn't just being rude—it was being politically naive in a court where one wrong word could get your family executed. And Lu Zhan's reaction showed he's not just powerful, he's smart enough to use that power precisely. Then you have the subplot with Lu Xin trying to frame Zhi Wan for pushing Wang Zeren into the water. Classic villain move, but honestly it felt a bit predictable. Like we've seen this before. Still, it serves its purpose of establishing the social hierarchy and Zhi Wan's precarious position as an orphan in the household. The big question I'm left with: what's Lu Zhan's endgame here? He's clearly protecting Zhi Wan in subtle ways while also keeping her at arm's length. Is he building toward something or is he just being a good cousin? The plot is setting up something big and I'm here for it.
The pacing in this chapter is relentless and I respect it. It opens mid-confrontation—Mo Tingjue is already trying to win Wen Zhi back, Lin Yue is already attacking her, Mo Tingyan is already orchestrating chaos. There's no warmup. We're dropped into the drama at full volume. The structure follows a clear arc: confrontation (the necklace insult) → escalation (the competition proposal) → climax (Wen Zhi's performance and victory) → resolution (the watch reveal and private moment) → disruption (the nightmare). Each beat lands and then immediately pivots. The author doesn't let the reader breathe between scenes. What's really impressive is how the competition scene itself is paced. Lin Yue plays first—skilled but not extraordinary. The young colleague plays second—clearly inferior. Then Wen Zhi. The description of her performance builds gradually: 'her melody transitioning from light and bright to subdued and low, and finally to a heart-wrenching sadness.' The prose itself slows down here, mirroring the music. We feel the shift in tempo. And then the silence after she finishes—that deliberate pause in the narrative before the applause starts? Perfect. The author knows exactly when to let a moment hang. The transition from the public scene to the private one is equally well-handled. Wen Zhi excuses herself, goes to her room, posts a video (nice casual detail that grounds her character), gets into bed—and then Mo Tingyan appears. The shift from group dynamics to intimate space happens smoothly, almost imperceptibly. And then the nightmare at the end? That's a classic structural move—undercutting the romantic resolution with something unsettling. It prevents the chapter from feeling too neat and propels us forward. The pacing never drags, never rushes, and the emotional curve is perfectly calibrated.
The premise is overly used but the writing and story telling is unique, standing out from other same regression novels. I hope the author uploads daily like before, but even so m satisfied. Keep up the good work???
decent book, pretty interesting and I like it.
at first glance the cover kinda reminds me of song of achilles, historical yaoi gimme also, i'd love to discuss more about your book, is there contacts (ig, email, or discord) i could follow? xx
The novel is interesting and fun to read when you're bored, but the story reminds me of the Korean manhwa The Genius Academy Blinker in several ways, such as the skill that can only use movement techniques.
im currently on chapter 17 like your book but not my favorite maybe as I read it would like it More if it happens i will increase The stars and also tell us about yourself author like what's your story I'm Burhan from Pakistan now 19 I like women what about you wait you single ?? ... just kidding ?

love ur novel, omg,am extremely satisfied reading ur novel
this world the author has created is intriguing. and I can't wait to see how the story progresses, and meet all the characters.
wtf is that guy?!! why is he trying to disrupt archer's pack?
I have to say good start but in only 23 chapters he has built a world where there is no law system and only karens walk around. The MC died almost 3 times in 3 days but didn't grow smart or cautious but only arrogant. A world background and strength system that doesn't make sense and has plot holes as big as the death star and yeah I could go on a bit but I think it's enough. It's sad I really did like the novel but well I'm off gb.
