On the surface, it's a beastfolk romance with a system-driven protagonist, but underneath there's this whole political layer with Bai Yuwei becoming chief that the author barely lingers on but somehow makes feel significant. The chief selection arc wraps up quickly—Bai Yuwei wins, spins Shen Qi around, Si Jingzhan shows up late with an apology gift—and then the story immediately pivots to the next mission. That's the thing I appreciate most: the author doesn't let you breathe too long between plot beats. One chapter you're celebrating a chief coronation, the next you're hunting third-tier magic beasts and learning that your blood can attract predators. The Vertigo Powder quest (Zhucha, Ziling, Baidong) is introduced almost casually as a system task, but it's clearly setting up future conflict. And Si Jingzhan discovering Shen Qi's real face? That's not just a romantic beat—it's a ticking bomb. He promises to keep her secret, but the reader knows how long those promises last in stories like this. The plot feels tight, no filler, every scene pushes either character development or the main quest forward. Which makes me wonder: is the author planning to make Si Jingzhan's discovery of her face the catalyst for a major plot twist later, or is it just romantic tension building?
