The experience was incredibly satisfying! It featured a well-paced, relaxing narrative that gently led to a fulfilling conclusion. The protagonist chose to play a café management simulation amidst everyone else's action-packed RPGs. She wasn't unaware, just not overly analytical – she understood the situation without constant narration. The book had a low-key tension and a perfect blend of plot development and enjoyable café-centric moments.
Character development was exceptional, with a manageable introduction of a diverse cast and adequate context. The story revolved around the characters themselves, rather than intricate world-building or complicated plots. The occasional inclusion of the "Hunter Channel" (HunChan) forum discussions added color and insight, and the translator did a fantastic job with them.
Additionally, I must commend the high-quality English translation by Cabin Four. The footnotes were helpful but not intrusive, making for a smooth and enjoyable reading experience.
The story is neither extraordinary nor terrible; it's just average. In typical transmigration stories, we usually witness a strong and cunning protagonist dominating the scene. However, this MC isn't particularly brilliant, and her initial struggles make for frustrating reading. She reacts impulsively, alternating between accepting absurd situations and standing up for herself, which can be inconsistent. Her immaturity is noticeable, and character development improves as the story progresses, but only if you persist.
The political intrigue is straightforward, relying on expository narration rather than immersive storytelling. The "bad guys" lack depth and intelligence, with their plans easily anticipated. Given the MC's limitations, this might be expected. The romantic aspect is cute, though, and it's refreshing to see some positive relationships with female characters, like the resolution of a misunderstanding.
Translation quality is commendable. Overall, I'd advise readers not to take the MC or plot too seriously. Set low expectations, and you'll enjoy it at a 3.5 out of 5 stars.
