But then he drops this absolute BOMBSHELL on Concubine Du: "Mother, regarding the allotted supplies for Third Sister's room... please do not obstruct them anymore." Do you realize how brave that is? He's literally accusing his own mother of starving his sister. And Concubine Du's reaction? Classic deflection. I literally laughed out loud. The tonal whiplash is incredible. But honestly, the dialogue throughout this chapter is so natural and character-specific. Luo Qingxu's voice is unmistakable—she switches between sweet and sycophantic ('Teacher Xie, this song belongs to no one but you') and bratty and defiant ('Well, do you know who I am? I'm your grandma!') depending on what the situation demands. Xie Jiayin's dialogue is more measured and authoritative, which makes sense for someone of her status. 'Isn't it just bullying the kids?'—that line perfectly captures her internal conflict between wanting to sing the song and not wanting to crush younger artists. And Nan Nan's internal monologue is pure comedic gold: 'Adults these days are so hard to deal with.' The author has a great ear for different voices. Even the bullies' dialogue feels authentic—threatening but ultimately cowardly, the kind of empty aggression that collapses when challenged. The banter between Luo Qingxu and the bullies before the handsome guy appears is genuinely funny. 'Stay away from me, your spit is about to hit my face'—she pretended to dodge imaginary spit. This kid has zero filter and it's wonderful.
The first two chapters of *The Luminous Veil* are a mesmerizing blend of mystery and magic. The Veilwood Forest comes alive with vivid descriptions, and Elara’s discovery of the pendant feels both enchanting and foreboding. The introduction of Kael adds an intriguing layer of danger and allure, leaving me eager to see where their journey leads. A captivating start, though I wish we knew a bit more about Elara’s past. Okay my little monkeys, I am here with a new novel. This novel is basically a story with a good plot that has smut. It is not the smut that has plot kind. If you are looking for a story with a deep power system, interesting philosophies, good plot, and 3 dimensional characters, I think you are in the right place. Nothing more to say.
I will say I’m writing this for fun. I don’t have a huge plot line with every little detail planned out, simply going with the flow.But doesn’t mean I’m not going to do character development, etc.Also, I invite constructive criticism, not criticism, but feel free to send either ?.
