The pacing in these chapters is absolutely ruthless and I love it. You go from Fu Ting being completely bewitched by his wife's cooking and sweet talk — "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach" — to Shen Junmei bursting in accusing them of stealing meat within like three paragraphs. One minute you're melting over couple goals, the next you're reading about a woman slapping someone across the face in front of the whole village. The author knows exactly how to control reader engagement here. That moment when Gu Yun is literally reaching for the chicken because the PDA is too much? Perfect comedic beat. It gives you a breath before the next wave of drama hits. And then the transition from the bath scene to mushroom gathering to the roujiamo making to Shen Junmei appearing at the gate — it flows like real life. Nothing feels forced or rushed. The fight scene itself is paced brilliantly too. Three slaps. Just "Pa! Pa! Pa!" — short, sharp sentences that mirror the action. Then the crowd gathers, the men arrive, and suddenly you're reading about a woman sitting astride someone's back raining down fists. The tension builds naturally from accusation to confrontation to full physical conflict. What really gets me is how the author uses Gu Yun as a pacing device. His internal monologue — "the chicken was almost in his mouth!" — provides comic relief that makes the dramatic moments hit harder by contrast. The chapter endings are also well-timed. Each one stops at a moment that makes you want to keep going.

Damn. The MC's smart and likable what more could I ask for? This story is like a multiplayer dream-like trial but with a squid game twist and the winner becomes a god while the rest forget about the trial. The only problem rn is that there are too few chapters. I'm looking forward to the next chapters.Also, fire writing ???
