I remember when I first watched it, and it was just amazing and delightful. Initially, it seemed like another isekai with a mix of comedy and action, but towards the end of the season, it took a dark and dramatic turn, which is what made it stand out.
My impression of the main character changed as the story progressed. It’s incredible how caring and tender he turned out to be (I’m not spoiling anything because that side of him was revealed at the end of the first season in the anime).

I follow up to date. And all I can say is that the author threw away a topic that had potential in the beginning. His style of empowerment is beautiful and original. But when it comes to the harem and other characters, it's complete sh*t. The Unknown as the enemy is good. But everything else was done superficially. In particular, he always pairs female characters with very important figures to make them seem even more important. It turns into a cliché China series as it progresses. My score is currently 2.1

The novel, in my opinion, centers on overcoming depression and mental health issues, which can be dark and challenging but authentic. Readers who have faced similar struggles can relate and appreciate the realism.
Some critics argue that the main character's mental state doesn't progress meaningfully. Overcoming depression isn't a linear process; it's a constant battle of ups and downs, setbacks, and moments of hope. In terms of relationships and supporting characters, I believe they contribute positively to the narrative. The inclusion of characters like Rachel, a maid with a tragic past, illustrates this need for connection and the reciprocal support they provide. Although I personally dislike the idea of a harem, it's not explicitly portrayed in this case.
Lastly, the novel doesn't preach that "giving up" leads to happiness; quite the contrary. The protagonist initially sought death for relief but now fights through adversity in pursuit of it. The message is that happiness is possible even amidst chaos, and the more profound one's pain, the greater the potential for joy. That's a powerful and meaningful takeaway.
