Alec is the Emperor of the Empostium Empire, a man who seized the throne through brutal violence, including the execution of his own brothers. His sole motivation for enduring the crown and the political machinations of the court is his love for his wife, Afrosa, known as Rose. They share a deep, passionate history that began when Alec was an outcast in a remote village and Afrosa, the daughter of a local priest, took him in. After ascending to power, Alec returned to her, and they built a life together, eventually having two children: Aristide and Loras. However, the political landscape of the empire is treacherous. Rival factions, particularly the family of the Second Empress Valérie and the influential Marquis Offrége, conspire against Afrosa and her son, the Crown Prince Loras. The conflict escalates when Loras is poisoned, an act traced back to Marquis Offrége, who also bribes the court physician to declare Afrosa infertile, thereby threatening the legitimacy of the heir.

In response to the threats against his family, Alec descends into a cycle of vengeance and self-destruction. He orders the brutal execution of Marquis Offrége and systematically eliminates those he deems responsible for the suffering of his wife and son. Despite his efforts to protect them, the political intrigue and personal betrayals drive a wedge between Alec and Afrosa. Afrosa, weary of the violence and the emperor's increasingly erratic behavior, retreats to the detached palace with their children. She expresses a desire to leave the imperial life entirely, seeking a return to the simple existence they once shared in the village. Alec, terrified of losing her, pleads with her to stay, but his desperation only pushes her further away. Their relationship deteriorates into cold detachment, with Afrosa viewing Alec not as a husband but as a monster she must endure.

The turning point arrives during a fire at the imperial conservatory. Loras, seeking to make his mother happy by picking flowers, is trapped inside. A mysterious figure attacks the young prince, stabbing him before setting the conservatory ablaze. Afrosa,不顾一切, rushes into the burning building to save her son. Both she and Loras perish in the flames. Alec arrives too late to save them, watching in horror as the woman he loved and the son he protected are consumed by fire. The loss shatters Alec completely. He abandons all pretense of governance or mercy, plunging into a frenzy of retribution. He orders the execution of everyone connected to the conspiracy, including the children of his rivals, showing no remorse for the bloodshed.

In the aftermath, Alec holds a midnight gathering of the Privy Council and the Red Assembly. Instead of addressing them with political strategy, he reveals that he has summoned eighty thousand mercenaries to destroy the empire he built. He watches as the palace burns, killing his remaining enemies, including Valérie and her children, with his own hands. The narrative then shifts to a dream or vision where Alec is back in the village with a young, living Afrosa. They share an intimate, loving moment, recalling their past before the throne and the bloodshed. Alec wakes from this vision, realizing he has returned to the past or is trapped in a loop of memory. He finds Afrosa young and unaware of the future tragedies. He resolves to protect her this time, determined to alter the course of events that led to their destruction. The story ends with Alec grappling with the reality of his second chance, haunted by the memories of the ashes and the screams, yet anchored by the presence of his living wife.

This book is below average for the 18 free chapters you get. Which is ridiculous, because the book is low quality along with the translation which is just not what you would expect to be. There is no world design in the first 18 chapters, and there is NO explanation of the cultivation system. None at all, it’s not like it is an easy system to pick up either it looks failry complicated. And the levels seem pretty inconsistent. Overall I think it could be an ok book to just pass the time with. But you can’t tell at all with only 18 chapters to go on. One last thing this novel is one, where the MC preaches about staying low key. And in 10 chapters pretty much throws that out the window.

This is a good LN or should I say that "this is Not a bad LN". However, there are somethings to be aware of. The one thing I have HATED about this LN has been how the Author never has the MC break his enemies bones/bodies into a miserable state that takes a very long time to heal from. I also HATE how the Author never has the MC kill his enemies that really actually try to kill him. What happened to the Chinese saying "the be merciful to your enemy is to be merciless to your self"? His enemies keep coming back to try and KILL him over and over. Who the heck would allow someone to keep trying to KILL them without doing something about it? In RL you would call the police and they would go to jail. In Asian LNs the MC is suppose to KILL them. Not let them come back over and over to almost succeed in killing the MC each time... The only reason I read this on this site is because it is easier to read lots of chapters on QI. This is work that comes from WW's site. They have more chapters than QI.

The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!John3.16For God so lovedthe world that he gavehis one and only Son,that whoever believesin him shall not perish but have eternal life.17For God did not send his Son into the worldto condemn the world, but to save the world through him.18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.19This is the verdict: Lighthas come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.20Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.21But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.For more information: youtube.com/@PastorPatrickWinfrey youtube.com/livingwaters
