Afrosa is the Empress, wife of Emperor Alec and mother of Loras and Aristide. She is deeply in love with her late husband Laurent, which caused a rift with Alec. She is cold and detached towards Alec, having declared her intent to leave the palace. She is exhausted and sorrowful but maintains a calm exterior. She cares deeply for her son Loras, washing him personally and listening to his chatter. She considers sending word to Lady Lupen to arrange a woman for Alec to avoid intimacy. She enters the burning conservatory to save Loras.
