In my headcanon, in the original timeline, the ML, now a darker version, saved the MC from his toxic family and friends, which greatly improved his mental well-being. They went on to live a happy life together, with the ML known anonymously as an acclaimed artist. I just want them to be happy, and that's what matters most.
