Lin Shu Yin, a vocal music graduate from the 21st century, transmigrates into the body of an eighteen-year-old girl in 1970s China. She finds herself in the role of the second daughter of the Lin family, a household of seven where she is deeply unloved. Her parents favor her twin brother, Lin Jian She, and her younger sister, Lin Shu Yi, while her eldest sister, Lin Shu Ting, is already married into a factory director's family. The original owner of this body was destined for tragedy: forced to marry Zhou Jian Guo, the son of a textile factory director, to secure jobs for her siblings and promotions for her sister. This marriage would eventually lead to her abuse, abandonment for her younger sister, and death. Upon awakening, Lin Shu Yin discovers floating bullet-screen comments revealing this plot, confirming she has entered a drama. She resolves to escape her fate, refusing to marry Zhou Jian Guo despite the immense pressure to sacrifice herself for her family's benefit.

Struggling to find employment in an era where jobs are scarce, Lin Shu Yin faces the prospect of being sent to the countryside. Her family is indifferent to her plight, viewing her primarily as a resource to be exploited. During a walk near Chang Lake Park, a system activates, issuing her a task to save a child who has fallen into the freezing water. She complies, rescuing the boy, Zhang Qi Ming, from drowning. The child’s grandmother, Mrs. Zhang, is a wealthy and influential figure who insists on repaying the favor. Learning that Lin Shu Yin wishes to join the military art troupe to avoid her family’s grasp, Mrs. Zhang uses her connections to facilitate the girl’s enlistment. Lin Shu Yin passes the audition with her superior vocal skills, securing a position that removes her from the Lin family’s control entirely.

Before departing, Lin Shu Yin’s family reveals their true colors. Her mother demands that Lin Shu Yin mail most of her meager army allowance home, treating her as a cash cow even before she has earned it. Her elder sister, Lin Shu Ting, arrives with news of a potential suitor for Lin Shu Yin, only to be furious when she learns the girl has already joined the army. The family’s greed and lack of affection are laid bare, solidifying Lin Shu Yin’s decision to cut emotional ties. She departs for Hohhot, Inner Mongolia, leaving behind a family that would have gladly sacrificed her for their own gain.

In Hohhot, Lin Shu Yin adapts to military life, training rigorously and bonding with fellow new recruits, including Sareen, a Mongolian girl who becomes a close friend. She quickly distinguishes herself in the art troupe, earning praise from her captain for her talent. Her performance at the Spring Festival Gala catches the attention of Battalion Commander Shen Guannan, a stoic officer seven years her senior. While Shen Guannan develops a quiet interest in her, Lin Shu Yin remains focused on her career and personal independence. She navigates the rigid military hierarchy and the subtle rivalries within the troupe, such as the jealousy shown by senior member Li Ting, with caution and intelligence. The story follows her journey from a disposable daughter in a toxic family to an independent woman building a new life in the army, armed with a mysterious system that provides her with resources and tasks to ensure her survival and success in this unfamiliar era.

This novel is truly a gem!! At first I thought this novel would be passable for my tastes but after reading it blew my mind away! It's so good that if I had to I would pay for more chapters. The only down side is punctuation but it's is fine, I hope later down the line some of his power will be transferred to him in real life, say that the game turns out to be a real world, kind of like the novel   Apotheosis of a Demon – A Monster Evolution Story. I would really love this! To author thank you for the novel it is great, I gave it a 4.8 because of punctuation but everything else is perfect

I don’t know why this novel has such a high rating, it’s god awful. Zero character development, zero plot, zero world building. All there is to this story (if u can even call it that) is power leveling and ass kissing. Every chapter there’s “He’s so handsome”, “How can he be that powerful?”, “I wanna have his baby!”. Clearly written for 8 year olds or ppl with low IQ who can’t follow a real storyline. I get that it’s a satire making fun of stereotypical Chinese webnovels, but in the process it becomes one that’s even worse. The attempt at comedy is forced and repetitive, and it becomes not funny if that’s all there is to his novel.

Alternate Story Title: Worthy of Respect in One Age novelupdates.com/series/worthy-of-respect-in-one-age/ OH YEAH, FINALLY A NOVEL I KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT TO MAKE A PROPER REVIEW ABOUT!Sorry, got a little excited. So yeah, I can state the nice stuff about this story.I am describing ch.1 which you can find on the NU link, so I don't think this needs a spoiler. This novel starts with the MC transmigrating without a gaining the body's memories, ending up a monk in Shaolin Temple and using his wits to not get exposed and exorcised. His body has a backstory he knows nothing of, and returning back to his family will get him exposed. The story starts in such a 'interesting' situation where MC has to use his IQ from the start, and I promise it just gets better.Initially the world seems to be in a wuxia setting, though it is slowly revealed to be more. But I'll reveal one more thing: The 'Samsara' is introduced quite early! ...OK, now I really can't say more without spoilers. As for the TL, I'll expect good things. Even though not one chapter is up, I'll give props to the translator for rewriting Title and Synopsis to appeal to English readers. The original synopsis on NU seems a bit vague on first sight. Can't say anything further, as this novel has no TLed chapters here.So there it is, this is a nice novel and I hope you'll give Energy Stones to it....Also, one last interesting thing. Do you like the author, 'Plagiarist', the writer of Carefree Path of Dreams and sequel to Warlock of the Magus World? The novel preceding Carefree Path of Dreams, Overgod Ascension was inspired/ plagiarized from this novel. Overgod Ascension is also known as a loose sequel to Warlock of the Magus World.

Currently at chapter 30.I'm loving itJokes aside, I enjoy reading this novel a lot because of how new the idea is and how this new idea isn't completely butchered by a dog water mc or rubbish translating. There are a few moments in the novel that I dont like but nothing big so go ahead and give it a try.
