Fruit from the pucker-tree, fist-sized and orange-yellow. Very astringent and unpleasant-tasting, disliked by birds and Spinefang Beasts. Can be dipped in salt-stone to improve flavor but is usually eaten plain. Mao Xiaoshu gathers fifty-odd pieces to store for the snow season, dividing them into piles of eight for daily rations.
