A Li Zheng (village head/elder) in his sixties, about the same age as Ye Chongming. His family is relatively well-off compared to surrounding garden households but not truly wealthy. He has a deep bond with Ye Chongming spanning decades. He accepts a hundred taels of silver and silk fabrics as a gift to accompany Ye Chongming to the yamen and help change white contracts to red contracts.
