Also referred to as Old Master Zhao or the Grand-Uncle, he is the eldest among the village elders, a gaunt white-haired old man who taps his long-stemmed tobacco pipe. He questions where the village will get enough grain for over a hundred soldiers. He condemns the soldiers' tyrannical behavior and asks if there is no law left.
