A critically ill young boy whose pulse is unstable with damage to all five organs. His mother Shen Lanzheng has spent twelve years and over four thousand days and nights trying to keep him alive with countless medicines. He is sensitive to cold and has charcoal braziers at his bed. He briefly awakens and calls for his mother near the end of the scene.
