The Slender Ghostly Shadow, also referred to as the tall ghostly figure or vengeful spirit, is the primary antagonist and the scariest boss in the Huangquan Community strange tale. It has no facial features, only a pair of blood-red eyes and a face that can split open to reveal shark-like serrated teeth. It appears as a tall, thin ghostly shadow nearly as tall as roadside trees, composed of thick black mist. It cannot be killed and regenerates if destroyed, feeding on resentful spirits rather than living humans directly. It wanders Huangquan Community every midnight, attracted by fear and life force. In the story, it becomes unusually interested in Yu Qing after she follows it into Building 18 and shares an elevator with it. Despite its terrifying nature, it is perplexed by Yu Qing's lack of fear and her low height, which prevents eye contact. It eventually engages in a hunting game with her, following her heavy footsteps as she rushes to deliver the order.
