The male antagonist, the current Emperor who was suspicious and paranoid throughout his reign. He married Wen Jinxin but never trusted her, favoring Consort Wu instead. He framed the Zhennan Wangfu and sent Shen Jue to suppress pirates as a trap to kill him. After Wen Jinxin's death, he kept her corpse in an ice coffin in Changchun Palace, forbidding burial. He was killed by Shen Jue during the rebellion when he refused to flee the capital.
